isn't £35 a bit much for 200 mins? i know there is the cloud wi-fi and unlimited data.

It is with a £270 upfront charge.

I'm on a £35 a month tarriff with O2 now, which I rarely use up - I'm quite willing to go down to 200 mins a month plus 200 texts for that money to get unlimited data.

But I can walk into an O2 shop and get an N95 on a better tarriff this afternoon and get the phone for free - is the iPhone really worth an extra £300, without any extra memory and no 3G? I'm not sure it is anymore.

I think Apple and O2 have really cocked this up.

That iPhone deal's awful; with 3 I've got a free Nokia E61 (2.5G/3G, wifi, Bluetooth, full web browser, Google Maps, installable software, aeons of battery life) for £15 a month. I'm not remotely tempted by the iPhone. They've underestimated just how far ahead of the US the European mobile market is.

Got a similar deal on 3 here. I genuinely believe they've cocked up royally with this one. I love the concept of iPhone, but the costs and lack of 3G (and 30% EDGE coverage, apparently none of which is in Scotland) make it daft.

Await patiently my iPod Touch, and hopefully a future, much improved, iPhone.

i don't mind paying the cost of the iphone (just cos i like it) but i'm not paying £35 a month for 200 mins. i really thought the plans were going to better value (as they are in america) than ordinary plans (to counter balance the phone being unsubsidised). oh well....we'll see in due course if this is a popular deal.

Yep - that's expensive. Oh, and the data isn't "unlimited"

"Q: What's the contract length, and does unlimited usage truly mean unlimited?

Matthew: '18 months contract. There is a limit: 1,400 internet pages per day would break the deal as part of fair usage agreement.' Wait, what?"

for $59.99 on at&t you get 450 mins, 5000 off peak mins, unlimited att to att mins and unlimited data. and it's a better plan than their normal plans for other phones.

it's a longer commitment though - 2 years.

I don't mind paying one or the other. But I'm just not paying for both. It's rediculous.

Thats still a lot more value for only another 6 months commitment.

I'm amazed at how many people seem to be surprised that the iPhone looks likes it's going to be expensive!

I'd NEVER have seen that one coming ....

i always knew it wouldn't be subsidised. but from the american experience i thought the tariffs would be favourable.

Come on .... open your eyes!

Never mind Apple, of course the mobile networks knew the demand would be huge.

They're in the market to make money, not to do people favours. The iPhone is a cash cow and they know it ....

well i suspect they would make more money with a more attractive tariff thereby taking customers from other networks. anyway, i'm just guessing.

really disappointing marketing from Apple/02. Contract costs of £900 is not even remotley tempting.

For £70 extra than the iPod Touch of the same size I don't think it's too bad - considering you also have the convenience of a combined device. The plan isn't attractive to me. I use my phone for emergencies, 200 mins is too much for me and I'm not paying £35 effectively for internet access. If there was some sort of family plan then maybe because my limited usage could be offset against the higher needs of other users in my family. The primary location I would use it are at home and work where I already have wi-fi. If the Touch had a proper email client I would buy that. As is I'm currently getting neither.

Apparently O2 are offering significantly better deals to upgrade customers already... that might change my mind significantly.

I suggest you read a different paper. The comparison doesn't include VAT or the annual exchange rate.
