Zen Jukebox

I've never had a better mp3 player than my original Zen 20Gb Jukebox, basically because it was so sturdy and rugged and you could chop, change and re-order your playlists on the fly.

I currently have a Zen Vision, which other than sound quality I hate.

Anyone know where I can get a 60Gb player that'll be as good as my original 2002 vintage Zen (which incidentally, is still going and used by my fiancee, but has too small a hard disk for me now)?

Anyone know of somewhere I could even get a Zen Xtra 60Gb?

Just pick up any old Zen Xtra on ebay and replace the HDD.

They just take standard laptop size HDD's. I replaced the drive in a mates Xtra a couple of months back. It works out at roughly £1 per GB if you replace it.

Interesting... I thought the firmware was track-limited, though?

No idea.

It was a 40gb he had I think and the HDD had packed in.

He hardly uses it, doesn't have much music and didn't want to spend a lot of money on it so in the end I stuck a 12gb drive from ebay in it for him. Cost all of a tenner ...lol!

I do remember havinga read about it before I replaced it though and don't remember seeing anything about problems with larger HDD's on the website I was using for referance.

Biggest problem I had was getting a couple of the screws out of the back. Standard jeweller sized screws but getting them out of the plastic block they were screwed into was pig.

Works fine now though .....
