Maybe the last thing done to them before being despatched from the factory was that someone would tell each one "you are a beautiful telly".

did he live in the USA, with NTSC it applies to,Crt & Flats.

However millions of CRT HDs are sold in the USA, and a few are avail in UK.

Choice is Choice, do I get a room heater or a 40 inch plasma to keep warm.

No he was just set in his ways, as old people often are.

I wasn't suggesting that I agreed that the comment
Quote:
“Why bother arguing if they happy with their ancient CRTs, whats the problem?”

The two situations are very different, the move to colour was undoubtedly an enhancement whereas there is not the same consensus about panel displays.

Fully agree, we had the Pal system which was the best of the three, however the frogs were patriotic, and the yanks
were in a hurry, so we went Hun.

However not set in my ways, circa 60s, I have been a tv fan since the belling lee transmitter in 1955 at winter hill, but horses for courses as they say, plasma & LCD to me are fine for HD with a few exceptions, whereas I would not be satisfied with them on SD, I will make the change once the main five UK channels go HD & FTA , but I refuse to pay a sub to watch, there I am set in my ways.

my opinion

DOH!

For the second time this wek, I've screwed up a post on here due to rushing.

I meant it looked like a FLATTENED CRT, but it does looks attractive though.

From the latest "What Plasma & LCD" (page 71), talking about motion handling on flat screens:

"Plasma refresh rates fall only a tiny bit short of the older, but superior, CRT technology, but LCD response rates are far slower - hence the smearing or "lagging".

It says that every month, I don't think they update the 'Facts on Plasma' screens section very often.

Owning both LCD and Plasma and countless CRT's, I have to say the Plasma screen due to its sheer size, looks and HD handling and SD handling it beats a my old CRT.
