Best way to rip extended/overlong tracks

Hi

On some CDs the last track is often extended to e.g. 20mins, with a large gap and then a bit of music at the end.

If I only want to rip say the first 4 mins i.e. the main song, how do I do that in iTunes? The idea is to save some space.

I know how I'd do this in FreeRip or CDEX but I'm new to iTunes. So far I've found how to limit playback to e.g. 4 mins but that's all.

Cheers
Si

If you're on a Mac, check out MP3 Trimmer (assuming you rip to MP3, not AAC or anything else). There are trimmers for aac too, but I have no experience with them so YMMV.

If you're on Windows, rip to WAV, edit/trim in Audacity, then import the trimmed wav file into iTunes, upon which it should be converted to your usual format of choice.
