I'm excited this is on... but it does sound like it will mainly be a preview of the new contestants, with a couple of interviews from past contestants.
Call me choosy, but if they're going to have a show beforehand I'd rather see selected highlights from past seasons, since we're going to get plenty of footage from the new contestants once the series starts properly.

Still, I'm pleased we're getting an extra week of SCD. I just hope they find time to interview Matt, who is now the only one from series four who hasn't had some kind of exit interview.

They actually did this on series 1, though it was on BBC3. I only know that because I have just been watching SCD1.
It was a 50 minute programe which introduced the celebs and the dancers and showed some training etc. It was very interesting and I thought they should have done that on every series, especially as they vote someone off on week one now which they didnt on Series1.

I suppose it will be nice to see more training footage actually, I'm always saying that's what I'd like more of on ITT.

The press release says they show the moment when the celebs meet their pro- I hope they do that for everyone because I love seeing the pros' reactions!

I like the fact we get a little about the new celebs mixed with old celebs... Seeing we knock one out the first week its nice to know something about the personality of the celebs before the first show...

I said earlier cazzyd that they did it on series 1, though it was on BBC3. Having it where everone can see it is much better.

I agree that this is a good idea and they should have done it last year as well. The one they did for the first series was brilliant. It's important for the male celebs I think because one of them will be voted out in week one and the viewers won't have had a chance to get to know any of them. Whereas with the females they will have a week of ITT appearances and clips of their training. I did wonder if they'd swap the girls and boys elimination round this year, in the interest of fairness but seems not.

As for talking to past celebs, etc I think this could fill an entirely separate programme on it's own. After 4 series there is enough material there to have a proper look back at everything and talk to the celebs who felt it had the most impact on their lives.
