This is seriously not a good time for me *sigh* ok basically I switched my MP3 Player on (which is a Creative Zen Xtra 30GB model, with version 1.03.02 installed) and it came up with a message saying 're-building library'.
When the usual menu screen came on, I went to 'now playing' after waiting a few seconds and hearing no music and it indicated there that no track had been selected and it showed the part in the top right that usually indicates the track number out of the total number of tracks as being '--/0' which worried me, so I went back to the menu and 'music library' and selected 'all tracks' but that screen showed nothing! no tracks at all... and I had over 2,000!
I've checked and the playlists are still showing up under music library, though if you select one, it won't play anything
and there's nothing under albums, artists or genres
However, when I go to 'Settings' and select 'about', it shows the following -
'Total Space: 28595MB
Free Space: 15901MB
Track count: 0
Album count: 0
Playlist count: 156'
so its somehow kept the playlists and the difference between the free space and the total space indicates to me that the tracks are still there somewhere, maybe it just can't detect them or something I don't know but clearly its indicating that the same amount of memory is used as was a day or so back when all the tracks were there.
Now the only thing I've used my MP3 player for recently was over the last few days I have, I'll admit, been deleting tracks, I'd been deleting interviews and sound files of a group im not so interested in anymore but it seemed fine and still played the music tracks... I haven't had this problem before and I've had this MP3 player since I believe it was January 2004 I got it... I've tried resetting it but it does the same thing, showing 're-building library' and the 'settings' -> 'about' screen still shows the info. listed above...
What should I do? any advice? if its fixable, is it likely this will happen alot and should I maybe think about getting a new MP3 player? I don't know... there are/were alot of tracks on it, not all of them on my laptop and I don't want to lose them if I can at all avoid it! any help is very much appreciated, thanks in advance!

its still not entirely fixed though, its just missing about 500 tracks or so and still has a habit of loading and crashing on the 're-building library' screen when I switch it on and it doesn't fully work when I run the scan disk, it always crashes at 77% but somehow I got 1969 tracks back and was able to transfer them all back to my laptop *phew* what a relief! im not sure whats happened to the rest of my tracks or how reliable the MP3 Player will be, I'm suspicious might have to buy a new one soon... I posted for help on the anythingbutipod forums theres one for my Mp3 Player model, so ill have to wait and see if anyone there can help, thats just what I was looking for, thanks again Richard!
