ipod touch, classic or other?

hi peeps

At the end of the month I'll be getting a new mp3 player. I think it's time to retire (give to the missus) my 2GB Nano.

What do i get?

The touch, with the big screen to watch movies on?
Or the Classic, which has a smaller screen, but 10x the capacity? or any other?

I will be using it to play mp3 and movies

Cheers

It's OK.

If you plan on watching a few movies, I'd go for the biggest screen you can.

Whats your main source for video files? If you're downloading a lot of DivX files you'll need to convert them all ... and/or ... start downloading stuff in a format the iPod will play.

I bought a iPod Classic on Monday - and it's really good! The new album flow feature is pretty cool.

I got my 160Gb classic from New York (the Apple store is so cool - it's underground) on monday and the coverflow thing is fine

Actually to my untrained ear I think the sound quality os slightly better as well and it's a damn sight louder than my old nano was

Is that the thing the French invented that meant that you couldnt hear the music on portable minidisc players

I adore the new volume though, always thought my old Nano needed just another half notch on the volume front

So with that and my Senheisser headphones I'm pretty much guaranteed to be run over anytime soon

I got the 8gig nano on Friday from Glasgow's Apple store

(Utterly chaotic as it was a public holiday and by all rights, I have a feeling I wasn't supposed to be able to walk to the counter and buy it offa the guy, whatever)

Realy nice stuff. Stuffed Heros and Avitar on it and I will hopefuly be able to watch those at my leasure.

Word of warning though: Do not download the "Made for Ipod video" videos from GameTrailers.com, thier utterly crap in terms of encode.

Just a warning guys don't plug the new Ipod Nano into the Playstation 3 console it causes the console to freeze and crash its weird since the 1st generation Nano worked no problem.

I download movies (from all-over) and use http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/ to conver them, its quick and easy.

I downloaded the latest family guy, converted it and had it on my ipod within 30 mins

Videora is fine. Does the job well enough.

Depends on the amount you want to use it for video I suppose. My wife has an iPod and hardly uses it for video so it isn't really an issue.

I use my (non iPod player) for video a LOT. Last thing I can be bothered doing is converting everything ...... I got tired of video conversion years ago before DivX compliant DVD players became commonplace. Personally, I go out of my way to avoid having to convert DivX these days.

Mind you, I'd think with a bit of hunting about you could probably find popular stuff like Family Guy already in an iPod friendly format ....

no doubt, but it was at 7am, family guy was on at 2am our time, so it was easier for me to do it.

Tomorrow morning, i'll do exactly the same with Heroes

To be honest, it sounds like you'd have been better off with a Creative player.

Better screen and no conversion required for 90% of DivX files .....

(I'm not a Creative fanboy by the way ... I use a Cowon player myself .... bought it specifically for it's video handling capabilities)

I didn't meen I don't know how to preform convert-fu, it's just that GameTrailers "Pre-converted" stuff is utterly tosh.
