On the 13th October because of the Rugby semi-final there is going to be no X Factor. This is going to give SCD a massive advantage

Very close but X Factor wins the battle. Must say though that I expected SCd to come out on top because of the 30 min advantage and being the season premiere. I'm sure the ITV execs will be happy with this.

Last year's SCD first episode got 8.8m (38%). X Factor on that day got 6.3m (31%).

I was expecting it to either match last years 8.8 mil or at least get 8 mil but it looks like both X factor and SCD are down from last year

last years ratings
Quote:
“1 …. 8.8 (38.2%) …. Strictly Come Dancing (19:45) BBC1
2 …. 8.4 (35.9%) …. The X Factor (20:30) ITV”

Last year it was on at a much better time between 7.45 and 9.00, I think. I remember the second week when it was on at early time there was a big drop in the ratings.

Big drop for both, and its more level this year as well. Where X Factor drops below 7m, that was when there was an ad break. It will be interesting to see tonights.

In a strange way I hope SCD continued to lose the ratings war and then the BBC might have to re-think these stupid changes.

It's on at 6.15 next week, expect similar ratings

Not necessarily. Remember, The X Factor isn't on at all next week and the comparison ratings show that when The X Factor are on a commercial break, the ratings for Strictly go up.

X Factor may not be on but England are playing in the Rugby World Cup Semi Final so there may be a battle for the remote control in some houses. Altho saying that the timing of SCD might be to the Beeb's advantage. No Radio Times for next week yet so can't check.

From Broadcast

Saturday night
BBC1 was in a much stronger position at 6.15pm thanks to its blockbuster Strictly Come Dancing bringing in a hefty 8.2m (39.6%). In the final 15 minutes of the talent show 9.3m (42.5%) were watching.

ITV1's Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway was no match for the corporation with 5.3m (25.7%) watching at 6.25pm.

Sunday Night

The BBC1's decision to air a Sunday evening edition of its hit show Strictly Come Dancing appears to be paying dividends with the second outing pulling in 7.7m (35.9%) at 6.45pm.

The 50-minute talent show saw its audience build significantly over the time it was on air from 5.9m (28.6%) to a sizeable 8.8m (39.5%) at 7.15pm.

Last night's show was up by 900,000 viewers compared to the previous week which was the first time the corporation had aired an edition of the show in an early Sunday evening slot.

The show was substantially up on the channel's slot average for the year to date of 4.5m (22.6%).

The BBC1 show had a knock-on affect on the channel's news update at 7.35pm which informed 6.9m (29.5%) for 25 minutes.

At the time ITV1 struggled to build a strong audience at the time. A compilation edition of Emmerdale, which featured the various weddings in the soap, gained just 3.4m (19.4%) for 30-minutes with the following news bulletin at 7.30pm on 3.8m (16.8%).

Not keen meself....but it's all about the ratings.

I can't see them stopping the Sunday results show with them ratings.

Yes SCD ruled this wekend, seems the ladies were a stronger draw than the gents! But of course X-Factor wasn't around.

Have i dreamt this, or does SCD's ratings usually start slowly and gather momentum as the series continues? As I recall, X-factor started out in front last year, but as we got nearer to Christmas SCD tended to come out on top nearly every week.

Fatastic figures for Saturday, bound to dip next week though with the lead up to the rugby on ITV 1.

Posted about X-factor not being on in another post.My work collegues who normally watch X-factor tuned into SCD this week and now their hooked. Basically they thought XF was s**t compared to SCD. They were really impressed by the standard of the women. Their children loved it as well....especially the young girls who loved the glamour. ITV may have cocked up big time in dropping XF to show the Rugby

Unless, ratings crash when the soaps return, I think we are sunk. No way will they re-schedule a Sunday show that draws 9 million.

For myself, I am finished with Strictly, the way in which the BBC have handled this whole tdebacle has been atrocious, the final straw was that windbag Wogan deriding those of us who have complained on Points of View last night. I think this whole episode shows exactly what the BBC think of their viewers.
