Mp3 player recommendations

I've been thinking about getting a decent mp3 player as I now spend quite a lot of time sitting on public transport.

I like the idea of an iPod Shuffle, but i'm a bit concerned about the whole itunes things. All of my music is on Windows Media Player and i'm not sure if I can be bothered with the hassle of getting it to itunes (am I right in thinking that it needs to be in itunes to then go on the iPod?). Theres also the issue of paying in part for the brand.

So, are there any suggestions of equivalent players? I don't need a massive amount of memory and i'd like something with a similar 'shuffle' function as i'm not really one for listening to whole albums. I don't know if its possible but ive been thinking it would be nice to get one with a radio as well.

Any recommenations are much appreciated.

I recommend the Creative Zen V (its Microscopic) and in 1GB to 8GB
http://uk.europe.creative.com/produc...&product=15283 look for the best price (I got my mum the 2GB one for less than Creative are selling the 1GB one from Amazon)
2GB - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-Zen...0319707&sr=8-3
1GB- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-Zen...0320087&sr=1-8

Get the travel adaptor aswell so you can charge it quickly and without a computer.

If you want radio then they also do the Zen V Plus which also does video

Have to agree with the previous poster, Creative do a great range of mp3's so there should be something to fit your needs.

Just to mention, if you want a cheaper Creative with FM radio then consider this model as well...

They all sync with Windows Media Player and also will play any music you purchase from their online store.

There ARE other great ranges around of course but for ease of use and consumer choice then Creative is a good bet.

If you go down the iPod route MGTEK's Dopisp ( http://www.mgtek.com/dopisp/ ) costs £7.75 and allows you to synch an iPod with WMP11, I use it with my (old) shuffle.

Seeing as my Zen Vision:M is dying i'm thinking of getting an iPod classic due to the eco-system built around ipods (i.e. being able to connect an ipod to car's, stereo systems etc) and being able to use WMP helps make that less painful (I hate iTunes)
