Connecting old xbox to my AV Amp

as the question states how do i do it and what do i need?my xbox has the phono cables red white and yellow if thats the correct name and i heard that the Xbox (old version not 360) supports dolby surround sound how to i go about this? thanks

my amp is the YAMAHA DSP AX640 SE AV AMP thanks in advance

Assuming you are going to keep the video side of the Xbox connected directly to the TV, you should only need to connect a pair of phonos (red/white) from the audio outputs from the Xbox to one of the audio inputs on the amp.

To listen in surround just select the source, this will be the audio inputs you have the phonos connected to, TV/VCR/AUX, then just select the surround format you wish to listen to.

If your amp has a digital optical input you can upgrade your surround sound with an XBOX advanced scart cable that also an optical cable socket that sidecars off.

You'll have to buy an optical cable as well, but its a massive upgrade (pic and sound) from the yellow/white/red cable that came with your Xbox. Enjoy

cheers, i just found out today that the xbox supports 720p and 1080i so definetly getting it, does this mean u can view hd material on the oldxbox/or dos it just upscale stuf?
