Bluetooth Audio Reciever for HIFI
Hi, Could anyone tell me whether or not there is a product which will receive the Bluetooth signal from my laptop (Dell Inspiron 8600 with Bluetooth built in) when it is playing sound files and output that sound in a way which will allow me to connect it to my hifi to listen through there using the red and white "AUX IN" connections.
Essentially, at the moment, I have a cable running from the headphone socket on my laptop to the input on my hifi, but this is rather restrictive. I was hoping to replace this cable with some sort of device which receives the Bluetooth signal from the hifi, and so eliminates the need for the wired connection. I have tried Googling but I have no idea what such a product would be called or whether any would be suitable. Any help with recommendations etc would be much appreciated. |

you could get an fm transmitter which you plug in to the headphone socket of your laptop then all you do is put the radio on on your hifi tune both the fm transmitter and hifi raido to the same frequency and you will be able to hear what your listening to on your laptop i have one you can get them from maplin, comet, currys argos etc they arnt expensive £10-£20 theres no wires you can plug them into anything that has a headphone socket

I feel your pain dave. I'm not sure why but the only decent bluetooth audio devices are cruddy little pc speakers.
I'd love to have wireless speakers in every room of the house lol |

Bluetooth really lacks sufficient bandwidth to do hifi justice -- that is to say, the bandwidth is there, but the typical interference is such that you never achieve enough to get even a 128K MP3 running well enough.
WiFi on the other hand -- loads of options. Something like the Netgear MP101 would be right up your street I would have thought -- ebay at £30. First rate sound, decent interface, neat-looking addon to a stereo. |

The spec of the Dell Inspiron 8600 indicates that it should have built in Wi-fi (802.11b) already.
