Have just tried to phone my dads vodafone from our BT landline and the phone wont even ring! The BT line just comes back with the beep tone (the one that beeps every couple of seconds).
If i phone the BT phone from his vodafone it works, but it doesnt work the other way round. The phone isnt even displaying an incoming call so it cant be rejecting it because that would at least be shown on the screen or in the logs. It must be something inbetween the landline and the vodafone network.
its an original vodafone number, i havent tried phoning it from another mobile but if i phone my O2 phone from the BT phone it rings instantly. Gotta be a vodafone fault.

That might be related to the problem im having down here...
I'm having exactly the same problem. When I try to send texts I get a message number not in use. When I try to check my balance using *#1345# I get the message 'PAYT Service is not available.
Also I can dial out from it but also get a dead tone when I try to call to it.
Just rang Vodafone CS who have suggested I try putting my SIM card in another phone, but of course it looks like its a network fault. When I said is there a chance it could be a network fault I was told that there weren't any logged!
If only we knew how to log one so something could be fixed as it seems to be a nationwide (well Southampton to Whitby at least) problem!
To be honest now I don't fully know what's going on! My parents have a spare Vodafone Pay As You Talk mobile which is used for their tenants and that appears to be working fine!
I don't understand why some PAYT customers are affected and some aren't!
Just rang customer services again and I was told that it is a network update taking place on parts of the network.
The CS rep asked me for the first five digits of my vodafone number and apparently this update is affecting numbers starting with 077 on Vodafone.
Just checked that spare phone of my parents and that starts with 079 so that will be why it is unaffected.
The update should be complete within a few hours I was told but if it was still this way later tonight he said I should phone back to check if all is ok.
Hope that helps anyone that was maybe panicking why their vodafones weren't working (like me!).
just rang customer services, and they said they cant help me because their systems are down! Im getting very frustrated! their only advice was to turn my phone off for 10 mins! eughhhhh!

My dads starts 077 so thats why his wasnt accepting any incoming calls. My neighbour who came round to see me today bought his phone and his starts 078 so his worked fine.
And we have tried again this morning, same problem as i mentioned before. Only this time i tried calling it from my O2 phone and that just hangs up the call, no beeps, nothing.
Hi, I know there were some problems with this over the weekend but they all seem to have been sorted now. I know that a mobile group is determined by the first 5 digits as a whole and not just the first 3, so 07787 is different from 07779 for example. Hope this helps.
