cant link to "spotlight" it seems their server is down or busy.
I guess theres information about Kimberley.
I see what you mean about Jos Stoneish, yea she has got that sort of quality, maybe thats where she has this country twist from. When she sang that country song at her audition I thought it sounded good but perhaps the british public are not ready for that. She has since gone on to show that she can sing anything and without dropping a note. Just look how she belted out her second chance tune when simon asked her to do something different, WOW
She has now shown she has a fantastic stage presence as noted by Dannii at the apollo. If she gives performances like that then I think she will go far.
Kim to win, shes got my vote

It's a little bit of a lie to claim she's just a barmaid though seeing as she's Italia Conti trained with an agent. Still like her though. ”

Sorry, just to clarify, the above link seems to take you to "spotlight". as for the little lie, I believe she does work in her parents pub.

Sure but the way it was made out was that she was just a barmaid - not a trained singer and actress who works in her parents' pub. But it's cool I don't really expect people to walk out of pulling pints into being able to cut it at boot camp and I have no problem with her being trained. I do however think a bit more transparency from the production team would be appropriate. (And the link takes you to her spotlight page which you should be able to access unless DS have blocked it.)

But this is an appreciation thread and I am definitely appreciating. She's got that Dusty/Aretha thing going on which I love.

Agreed, i like her but i also agree the producers need to stop pretending anyone who gets far in the competition are general members of the public who walked in off the street - they aren't! Kimberley isn't, certain members of Hope aren't, the young dad male vocalist isn't - numerous loads from last year weren't. I am a fan but i found it wierd at first they had let her go as far as the live shows, now i can understand its because she's trained and is one that can hack the pressure/pace as well as being a fairly good performer. The producers are recruiting more and more ex-Brit School/Italia Conti students. The whole public auditions talent show concept is a total fake, just so they can film all the wierdos, lol.

I know its your mate, but from her CV thats clearly not quite how it is. Whether she thought Italia was all that or not she still got an agent, did voiceovers, toured as part of a Carpenters act, and did other TV. She is great though, but probably better to just say yeah she is a gigging actress/performer and its the shows fault for making her seem like just a nobody working in a pub.

Anyway good luck to her!

At last I managed to log on to the spotlight site. One thing that stands out is that she has not worked since 2005.
I wonder if she gave up ? Reading about her in a magazine the other day i see that it was a friend of hers that got her to enter this year, maybe she had given up on the business.
I hope that friend reads this site because you have managed to get a great talent noticed. Go Kim hope you make it to the finals

Spotlight often isn't up to date but yes good move to enter if she hasn't been up to much in the last year or so.

yes i can see that it is a bit annoying as x factor do seem to fool the public, she is only a barmaid now but if work comes up she does do it, i think many people that want to be famous have agents and will do any work!!

didn't mean to mislead anyone i mean its not like shes released a single or anything liek that but she has done a few things yes, mainly when she was younger tho!!

Doesnt make any difference to me, when I saw her all I saw was a beautiful, gorgeous girl. Suits me down to the ground definatley the kind of girl I go for.

I don't know why but she continues to remind me of Hayley Evetts.

I think Kim is fab and my pick of the bunch at the mo. She didn't need her sad story to get her through, she did it with her great voice.

Go Kim!

They oughta have gone the country route with her, not typical country but y'know Dixie Chicks, Shania Twain. If they get her doing commercial pop she'll just get beaten by other more commercially attractive girls. I always thought her original song choice was good.

I agreee shes not the size 0 girl but she is a real everyday girl that I think most people can associate with. I also agree that her voice does suit country and yes shania type would be great. By using xf4 as a platform I dont think it will be long before we see her bringing out a variety of stuff. Remember her 1st audition I believe she commented "I'm versatile", this got a good laugh but shes proving that statement. I really hope she gets to the lives, she will go down a storm. I reckon she will last to about 4th - 5th with the groups staying till the end.
If you think of the voting demographic mainly young kids getting mom and dad to vote, women (not being sexist) and our older generation.

To be fair why on earth would she blurt that out at the auditions, its totally irrelavant.
willwhisky
01-10-2007
agreed totally irrelevant. should all contestants say what their backgrounds are ? and would this have any bearing ?
willwhisky

Having experience in the industry isn't a relevant thing to bring up in an audition for a job in the same industry?

Im sure theres application forms that ask for all that info, i was just pointing that its a bit much to think she should have annonced it at her audition to the judges or spoken about it on camera.

Well, she might have thought it was an advantage. At a normal everyday audition it would be considered so.

I actually know people who've auditioned and mentioned it, and its been cut out of the edit though. They want people to act as if they've just walked in off the street, hence them trying to claim they've "discovered" talent.

It's always the way with the X Factor producers...they want a simple 'hook' in terms of someone's personality/history and hammer it to death. Leon's 'I want a better life for my family' is aleady sounding like a rehash of Shayne, but I'm sure there's hours of him saying other stuff. Similarly with Kimberley...they've clearly cut and pasted a fraction of what she's said to put across their chosen image of a naive girl working in her parents' pub. I don't blame the performers....I just wish the producers would credit us with a bit more sense...
