I-pod electrical outlet symbol

Hi, can anyone please advise? My son has been complaining about a sad ipod face on his beloved ipod. I dont know what he done to it, but the next thing he came to me and said that he had to unplug it from the pc and plug it into the wall... it has the electrical outlet symbol on it. I've researched and discovered that means its part way thru an update, and needs more power. Anyway, we had it connected to the wall overnight, but the symbol is still there. We've tried it at my friends, using her cable and plug, and it's just the same...

Any ideas what's wrong or what to do?

Sounds like it's the hard drive that's faulty. If it's under warranty, take it to an Apple Store or send it to them and they will replace it for free. If not, charges will be incurred (varying on different iPod models).

Sounds quite likely.

Which iPod model is it? (The link below will help)
