Absolute rubbish just use an external tuner e.g. Freeview /Satellite/Cable STB.

Indeed. I think that was meant by "DOH" but it shows what crap we have to put up with from the press. On a couple of occasions I have known the real facts behind stories that have appeared in the national press. Makes me realise that I should not believe a single word that appears in the papers! Still believe Gordon B is a waste of space though!

Yes but considering how much trouble some people have with VCRs the extra complication may well be too much for most. Freeview PVRs are getting cheaper all the time though.

I agree with the above post. Most people struggle with a video recorder on its own, having to program the video + a box (let alone wire it all up) is going to be too much for many people. And if their tv is also analogue, they will need yet another digital box if they want to record one digital channel while viewing a different digital channel at the same time (like they did with analogue).

...tapes are going out fast anyway. Many people will take the switch to digital as an opertunity to switch to some type of digital recorder anyway (DVD or hard disc).

The point i was trying to make is that the information printed in the Mirror is incorrect!

I think that qualifies as understatement of the year

Only in the absolute sense, for most people it will be true. Even for people who know how to use a VCR with digital it is still much more of a pain.

I doubt it will affect many people on this forum though, how many still use a VCR for recording TV?
