Anyone got this Sony stereo?

I'm very much on the verge of ordering this great looking and powerful little stereo :

http://products.sony.co.uk/productde...p?id=6_64_2667

I can get it from Comet for £160 with free delivery.

Does anyone have it and is it good for sound? I have already a minidisc, CD, Tape, Radio mini hifi of Sony's that looks very similar and I love it. The sound is warm and dynamic.

But this has a digital amp and a woofer.

Would you recommend this one?

digital amps are well none existaint there is class D but that aint digital & is only really used for sub woofers

best bet is to go & have a listne to one ont he shelf of your local comet

I got one that looks almost exactly like that a few weeks ago but this one had Minidisc and it was £300. Annoying that the tuner had no LW (why do they omit that?) and no extra RDS features (just the station name), but it has excellent clarity and a powerful bass, so you won't go wrong with the sound if you get one in this line of models.

I would recommend that you listen to JVC outfits before buying.

The Sony is really poor without the digital enhancements switched in...

Even then, it's not brilliant.

And for the same money, Richers Sounds and others could do you a better package all round.

I never have the digital enhancements off, but the speakers still have excellent clarity. But do the JVC's do MP3 playback, if so that would make them a good choice.

If you can afford the TEAC......

TEAC gear (and any other mini- or full-sized separates) will blow any mini system out of the water, you're right in saying that gimmicks don't add to sound quality -- why doesn't TAG, Arcam or Shearne have digital amps? I wouldn't let that sort of thing sway you.

But these better systems only really start at 300 quid or so -- these little boomboxes are great for a bedroom etc, or where you want to hide it away.
