He would have been a much better captain that Shane Warne? Dancing is a sport isn't it?

I don't know about classing Dancing as a sport but I don't think he will be asked to be captain.

I do however think on the Saturday SCD starts they might do a special where sportsmen who have appeared in Strictly will be on the show.

But then again there might not be.

I don't believe dance is sport personally, and I hate it being labelled as such..... but there is a huge camp of people who do and are fighting to get it recognised as sport ( perhaps in desperation to up it's image in a sport mad world......but that's another debate altogether !!!) However I think you'd have problems with viewers of ' A Question of Sport' taking it seriously !!!

That apart, Brendan is a enjoyer of sports himself ( plays footie and cricket I believe from various press reports) and would also be able to present such a programme very capably, and very enjoyably IMO Might actually convert me to being a viewer of a sports programme .....now that's something indeed coming from me !!!!

Dancing is an art not a sport.

And quite frankly Brendan could do with staying away from tv shows that aren't dancing related for a while - it just makes him look desperate to become a zeleb.

Totally agree dance is art not sport !!!!

However, on the second point .....Brendan has no need to 'look desperate to become a zeleb' since he is already a celebrity in his own right !!! And of course he is going to be looking at engagements that don't involve dancing since a) very few dancers get to dance forever as their sole career, and b) there is always the healthy desire to broaden oneself and try out other life experiences!

Brendan really isn't that big of a celebrity. Great dancer but going on something like Celebrity Love Island really makes anyone look a bit desperate imo

Whilst I don't think social dancing is a sport, I think competitive dancing is definitely a sport as well as an art - one doesn't have to detract from the other - and thoroughly deserves the title of dancesport.

Those who compete are highly conditioned athletes who train immensly hard to perfect their technique and deliver the best form possible whilst representing their country all over the world.

Having said that, I don't think Brendan would be appropriate for a QoS captain. Warne is very famous sportsman and will do a good job in my opinion.

Agree, I just hate the title *DanceSport*. IMO *Competitive Dancing* sounds much better.

Neither do I. Is he even a fan of other sports? Enough to answer questions?

He's only there temporarily, and will be replaced by another Guest Captain - Jamie Redknapp - when he returns to Australia for their Summer. A member of this forum attended a recording recently.

Yeah he likes quite a few sports ... But I don't think he'd be good on there, I wouldn't like to see him on it and I'm a fan ...

Totally agree - maybe people on here mostly see performance dancing (I include SCD in this!) than competitive dancing or social dancing.

And btw, I LOVE the title Dancesport!
