Samsung 42" plasma sound problem

For the past 6 months I have been experiencing a loud hissing/crackling noise when I turn on my 5 year old Samsung 42" plasma. When the problem first began, the noise would fade and disappear after around five minutes but it's now going on for half an hour before finally settling down. I'm running the TV through the Samsung media box that was provided with the package and assume that this is where the fault lies. Does anyone know if suitable media boxes are still available for my equipment, and if so, where I could obtain one?

What model of Samsung have you got?

It's a PSL4210.
