Which idiot decided to make these limited editions??

I dunno about davros, but it's been said by the restoration team that's expected that KTT is only limited in it's packaging and it'll come out as a digipack after the run of 15000 amarays is gone.

I've got number 4302. And I love it.

The nice men at 2|Entertain. The very sound reason for it is that retailers hate bulky boxsets like the six-amray-cases-stuck-together format of the limited edition KtT one. They consistently pressure 2|Entertain to release these things in digipacks (similar to the packaging for the new series S2 and S3 sets).

However, 2|Entertain are well aware that there are many fans who really like the amray boxes or, more importantly, want all the DVDs to line up on their shelves exactly the same. It's in order to facilitate these fans that 2|E are releasing the boxsets in the format they are.

However, however, in the spirit of compromise 2|E are limiting that format of box to 15,000 units. This should be more than enough to fill orders for all the fans who are insistent about having that format. After that run has sold out (hopefully not *too* long after) the KtT will be re-released in a nifty little digipack.

That's all refering to the Ktt, of course. AFAIK the Davros box isn't a limited edition at all.

I might have misread the article in lastest DWM.

Just ordered KTT off Amazon so I should be ok (25% off)

Ah, glad to hear an explanation about the box sets! Thanks. It's nice of them to consider buyers and retailers like that. Think I'll go for the chunky box...

Got the Key To Time box today and have to say it is very nice. It's £53 on Amazon which is good but only £55 in Virgin and WHSmith so probably worth a trip to the shops.

Sounds expensive but its actually pretty good value for 6 DVDs - all with extras and the proper cases and packaging inside the box.

Thats if you can get them in the shops, they are selling out quite quickly.

Got mine in WHSmiths in Newcastle on my way home from work, I asked the guy that served me if it was the last copy and he said yes and that they only got 3 in.

The story I read about a Davros boxed set said it would include all the Dalek stories featuring Davros including the previously unreleased Destiny of the Daleks. Also in the pack would be all 7 Big Finish CD featuring Davros plus a story specially created for the boxed set

It's limited to 10,000 according to the BBC DW website.

Pre-order from Amazon and the Davros boxed set is already 25% off

I don't think there will be a problem with supply of the davros box, looking around the other boards almost everyone is saying they can't afford it/don't want it.

I stand corrected. It's probably not a great surprise, though, that it's not going to be permanently available. All of the content, save the new documentary and new extras for Remembrance are already available elsewhere. And the new version of Remembrance is going to be released at some point too.

Since they're going to be re-releasing all these stuff on season box digipacks in a few years it makes sense to limit how long this Davros box will be available. Especially since it really is just to handily collect everything in one place.

Got the KTT, 6325, sadly it's damaged, bloody Tenth Planet!!

Now I wished I'd never bought the US release a few years ago, I hate buying the same thing twice.

I love the extras on the KTT, on the Stones of Blood for example, Nationwide interview, Blue Peter and a couple of cool documentaries.

Sweet!

That nationwide interview is a peach.

Of course, this thread hasn't got on to the real reason these are limited editions. It's so RTD can say he's got copy number 1. (Which he has apparently).

Steve Roberts has said that he thinks he is mistaken, and its the Davros set that RTD, Julie Gardner and David Tennant are getting numers 1, 2 and 3.

Oh okay. Have to say the power of kroll commentary is a peach too, Tom and John Leeson getting bored with the story about 5 minutes in and moving on to topics like how to make Anthony Hopkins corpse and such is well

Got the Key to Time on Saturday. I've already watched The Ribos Operation and have made a start on The Pirate Planet.

BTW David Warwick who played Kimus in The Pirate Planet is one of the select band of actors who have appeared in both incarnations of Dr Who. He appeared as the Police Commissioner in Army of Ghost

Mine's due tomorrow. And reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated!

Btw, don't start me on the whole Amos Brearly is a Timelord and the Woolpack is his TARDIS vibe...
