You see that's what annoys me, almost all new hardware is compatible with vista and you won't find any problems with it whatsoever. It's older software or hardware trying to use drivers which weren't designed for vista that cause the crashing.

Not always the case. I have both an Ipod Touch and an IPhone with the latest version of Itunes. They both work fine on my PC with Windows XP. Neither of them work on my Laptop with Windows Vista.

Yes, I am using the very latest ITunes. Still doesn't work. I spent 2 hours on the phone with Apple Care while I was in America recently. Even they couldn't help.

Sounds like somethings wrong with your Vista installation because the iPhone and iPod Touch work perfectly under Vista on my friends machine.

My Ipod Nano works fine on Vista. Just the touch and Iphone that doesn't work.
