OK Andy, here goes - premises here are
1) you do not want to archive from Sky+ to VCR.....come back if you do want to back up your Sky recordings to tape. 2) I'm guessing that the DVD is only a player?.......... 3) you have 2 digital inputs into tha Accoustic solutions box (I expect not but........) Sky TV scart ---> TV AV1 DVD/VCR scart ---> TV AV2 Sky optical digital out ---> AS 134 optical input 1 DVD/VCR optical digital out ---> AS 134 optical input 2 Rgds, Scorp |

.......or connect the DVD (if player) by component to the TV.
Lots of ways, just wanted to understand OP requirements and to make it simple for someone possibly lacking a little know-how in this area. Thanks again Bob for the input. Rgds, Scorp |

Thanks so much for the replies guys I really appreciate your advice
I will try your suggestions soon as I can The DVD is a recorder but have no real need to record onto it use it mainly for playback The back of the dvd/vcr combi has a lot of audio outputs Front L front R Surround L and R Mixed L and R Subwoofer Centre Coaxial Optical The AS 134 not got any digital inputs that I can find only 2 inputs from a 2.1 stereo source or 6 inputs from 5.1 stereo source Would it be best to just connect the audio L and R outputs from the dvdr to the aux L/R on the AS 134 or try 5.1 CH inputs And Scorpio someone possibly lacking a little know-how in this area. Is a nice way to describe me but even that may be a bit overstated I am totally lost? Again I really thank you for taking the time to help |

Andy, as Sky+ doesnt have the seperate 6 channel outpus (only all together in the optical digital output) you should connect the DVDR/VCR to the AS 134 using the 6 inputs.
Connect like this Front left to front left Front right to front right Centre to centre surround left to surround (or rear) left surround right to surround (or rear) right Subwoofer to subwoofer Ignore the mixed sockets. For Sky+ you dont have much choice but to connect using AUX l/r as you suggest. This is one of the problems with cheaper 'surround systems' which lack the varied connectivity of slightly more expensive dedicated amplifiers. Still, good luck - hope all works fairly well, shame to be missing out on DD 5.1 from sky movies etc. Rgds, Scorp |
