I would buy a new tf5810 - if i didnt already have a 5800.

HD is still a while away, and there are currently no STBs that do high def available, also theres currently no set standard.

Its not just Topfield that are in the 'cant do high def' boat, almost all the other manufacturers are in the same position.

The realy intersting thing is what will happen to all those people who have bought Nice big new plasma/LCD/whatever TVs that are HD ready, and also have a DTT (freeview) tuner inside them when they find out that their so called HD ready TV wont be able to display HD content from DTT?

I'd probably be tempted to get a 5810 if by some malign quirk of fate my 5800 went up in blue smoke. Though as I've had the 5800 for a while now, I'd probably shop around before buying a replacement. And I'd really prefer to have something that had a component video output as well: the HDMI input on my TV is already in use!

As it is, I'm relatively happy with the 5800 (notwithstanding its failure to assign LCNs of 800 and above to the broadcasts from the Mendip transmitter, which makes retuning a bit of a chore, and the sub-optimal picture quality via SCART).
