New LCD advice
Hi guys, I'm looking to buy a new LCD, and seem to have 101 Qus, so hopefully you can help
![]() For the record, my budget is max £500, either a 26 or 32", for terrestrial TV and DVDs. I have a freeview box, and can get freeview channels (but rarely watch them) therefore do I need one that is Digital ready/ integrated freeview. Is quality/ signal the same using both? I anticipate that I'll be getting one of the 'smaller' brands: wharfdale/ Acoustic Solutions etc, and I know that this issue will run and run, but are they worth the price difference? Initally I'm attracted to the packages that Argos do with the Wharfdales: 32" with DVD recorder and stand for £580 atm. Or will i be Ok using my VHS recorder, and perhaps getting a DVD recorder at a later date. Wha is quality like on, say a 32" with VHS? as long as its watchable, I'm not too bothered. Do Argos have any of them on display, especially in the larger stores, as I would like to view them before deciding? Whats' the return policy like, for them and other stores? Also, what connectors do i need to link laptop to LCD? Well, thanks for reading this post if you have, and I appreciate any advice given

I would suggest you go where YOU can compare the picture quality - cheap LCD's usually have cheap pictures, particularly on SD material (poor upscalers). More expensive sets generally have much better pictures, often better than CRT at a reasonable viewing distance.

On the Currys website you can get a 32" Sharp or Toshiba or Philips for under £500 with free delivery. Also there are some discount codes around that could get you another £50 off.
Also at Empire Direct website you can get a 32" LG which actually gets a good write up for£430 +£25 delivery. Also you can get 3years warranty for £20. You can also get 7% off the TV price until the end of the month with a discount code. They also have other branded 32" LCD's for under £500. You can get several reasonable DVD recorders on both those websites for well under £100 with the discount codes and ASDA do a glass stand for around £50 But I agree with Nigel - Look before you buy even with branded sets - I am still looking! |

You can happily use a VCR with an LCD. PC's normally connect via a VGA lead, but not all LCD's provide them. |

Thankyou for your reply.
So to confirm, is the VGA the 15 pin socket that I have on my laptop, or is that another one. And is it the same as PC-in, as found on certian LCD's specs? |

From reading another forum, te orion sold at Currys seems to come recommended. I will take a look in store when I have some time, but what do you think.? I already have a freeview box, so i don't need it to have intergrated DAB.
I watch quite a lot of motorsport, so im wondering how it copes with fast moving objects? Is this is a problem I will reconsider |
