Samsung plasma "burn"
My son has a 50" Samsung plasma - around 3 month old.
When he uses teletext and then switches screens it leaves it on the screen for a while - went back to shop and they kindly told him not to use it ???? Anybody know if any settings that may help with this.?? |

This is short-term image retention rather than burn. It is normal for plasmas and will improve slightly as the set ages. The only way to reduce it is to reduce the brightness and/or contrast levels (assuming they also affect the text display). Unless he leaves the set on text for very long periods, it is unlikely to become permanent.

He has 'image retention', not screen burn.
Imagine a lawn. When you walk over it, you leave footprints which quickly disappear. Same as image retention. Place a big pot over the grass and leave it there for a week or so and it kills the grass. That's screen burn. You would have to leave the same image on constantly for weeks on end to get screen burn. If image retention bothers you, see if your set has a screenwash facility, which will quickly remove it. |
