My reasons for why Spoony left is because he did come across as a bit arrogant and big headed, also there wasn't really much of a partnership there when all the attention was all on Ola. Compared to other partnerships in last series like Louisa and Vincent plus Mark and Karen, Ray and Camilla's partnership was a bit dull and bland in comparison. This is probably the same reason why Emma and Darren was in the bottom 2 a few times, they just didn't seem to gel as a partnership properly.

I feel disappointed that the BBC have taken this new format, no longer shall we see any entertainers or any 'journeymen' like Matt Dawson or Julian Clary progressing through the competition. I think the BBC have forgotten that it's the public that watch the show and not all of the public are dance experts, and heaven forbid some would like to watch Strictly as purely an 'entertainment' show!”

Well said Agree with every single word Alas, am still at work so must be brief. Just wanted to say 'Bravo'!

I really still cant believe they've moved the results show.. I liked the idea of SCD being a Saturday Night show.. The buzz of finding out who's going to go just wont be the same the day after.. if you get what I mean

aahh BBC why did you have to do this!

Has anyone had a reply yet from the BBC re the complaints?

its funny, the beeb used to say "its not strictly a dance show, its entertainment" and this forum used to moan about that. We wanted good dancers. Now we have the chance of that - how can people say the good dancers always get to the final, when we had Chris parker in seris 1 and not Lesley Garett?

and i agree with someone elses rant, the GBP need to start voting for decent dancers not the whole sympathy vote etc etc. If people voted on dance rathar than who they fancy maybe this change would not have happened

I totally agree that not live is stupid, but I love the show and also have a life. I can now watch both shows and go out and have a life.

not at all. Don't get me wrong, I'm a superfan with almost all episodes on tape/dvd!!!

given the choice I'd stay in and watch on Sat eve, eveb better, with my boyfriend. But its not his thing, so rather than never see him this way I can do both - sometimes you ("one") has to compromise - I'm seeing the positive of a decision I don't think we will change.

It is always going to be a bit controversial the way voting is now going to be done. If the Beeb are right and it is an "entertainment" programme then it is only fair that the public vote for their "favourite" instead of the best dancer. I really don't think it would work at all without the public input. This is always going to happen tho popular people getting through over less popular but better dancers. IMO and it is only my opinion the judges have shown definite bias over series three and four and if they now have the casting vote then that has got to stop - think Zoe (3) and Emma (4). If on the otherhand it is purely a "dancing" competition then the Beeb realise it wouldn't be half as popular. I think part of the fun is seeing the development of the less able dancers and watching them learn from the pros - it would be bloody boring if everyone was a good dancer from the start and if the judges vote out all the "weaker" dancers immediately as that takes all the "fun" element out of it.
Basically it ain't broke so WHY are the BBC trying to fix it

I just have to say, I am also not happy at this change. I can cope with moving it to Sunday and voting continuing but to leave the decision to the judges? After last year's shocking bias? This is going to kill the show if the judges cannot show some impartiality.

I hope they stop it before the last few stages, otherwise the viewer vote will count for nothing- the judges' favourites will automatically get to the final no matter what the public think of them.”

What an extremely stupid choice of the BBC

It spoils all the fun for voting and maybe watching.
The nice thing about SCD was that the public had the strongest vote. So there still stayed an element of surprise, what the judges think ( or Len) we already know.

I've always thought the voting system on SCD was unfair, what with the judges favouratism and the completely biased viewer voting ~ so how about a compromise...
Judges still vote as they do (except no 10's cus no one is ever perfect, not even professional dancers) but instead of then ranking the scores from 14 down to 1 (or whatever depending on number of couples in the show) why not leave the scores as they are eg 4 x 8 = 32.
Then, when the public vote, for every XXX votes a couple receives they earn another point. Would that be fairer?

Oh, and this is my first posting, so hello to everyone.

Hi HappyDancer, welcome to the forum

I agree with you, what you're suggesting is quite similar to the DWTS system. The final order is decided by the proportion of the judges' marks and the proportion of public votes that each couple receives. I've always thought it was unfair that if the marking is very close together, indicating there is not much to choose between the couples, the points awarded are the same as they would be if they were very far apart.
With our system it is possible for the judges to skew things in favour of one couple just by awarding one or two extra marks- with DWTS it makes very little difference.

Welcome Happy Dancer

The Beeb need to be careful, one of the reasons SCD is such a hit is that the viewers decide who satys and gos. Take that away and it becomes more like Come Dancing in the 80s

Quite.

Everybody has their weak dances anyway, nobody's been good at all of them.

Also my brain buzzing this morning as it does at 5am() I realised the terrible reality of a dance off every week especially the first few weeks. It wasn't bearable with Emma and Louisa. Can you imagine having to sit through the likes of Nicholas Owen again!!

Nope. They say they will respond within ten days. We'll see. I'm not a prolific complainer but over the years, I've yet to have a response from them on the few things I have complained about. I figure that at least I've made my voice heard.

Last year, Matt Dawson would have been gone early with the judges...look how he blossomed because of public support.

I really don't want them to ruin this, my favourite show.

Sorry if this question has already been asked.

Has it definitely been stated that the Sunday results show will be pre-recorded on the Saturday?

I've read that the voting lines will only be open for an hour after the end of the show but haven't seen it written that the results show will be filmed immediately after this.

I realise that Len and Bruno have to be in LA for DWTS on the Monday evening but if they got a flight on Sun evening they could be in LA by Mon lunchtime which would potentially even let them see some of the rehearsals.

Could the Sunday show not be a highlights show like it was last year.

Maybe the press has got the wrong end of the stick ??

Sadly not, it came from an official press release from the BBC: Strictly Come Sundays

The whole move is to increase the BBC's raitings share for the weekend as a whole.

Me too. I can't see all those celebs being prepared to come back again on Sunday night just to be voted off!
