The only valid reason for a dance off would be if the two dancers with the lowest scores tied. This version makes the public vote useless and very traumatic for the rejected dancer.

why can't the bbc give it the budget to make the show live ona sunday? in a way i hope the result does leak as it will annoy the bbc and show them its just a silly idea.

I hate this idea its stupid. if it was live fair enough but its pre recorded stupid bbc have lost their marbles.

This is really disgusting from the BBC, I can't believe they have ruined Strictly this year! Not only is the public's input into the results have been significantly reduced, but the decision on who goes is upto the judges?! I know I'm one of a few people who actually likes all of the Strictly judges but even I feel uneasy about giving them total power on who should leave.

I hated the dance-off last year as I found more enjoyment in Louisa's dancing then I did with Emma. I was going to vote in Strictly this year and one of my votes would have gone to Dom as he seems to be a real, bubbly character on TV and I like Lilia, but sadly I don't think I will bother as it's obvious under the new system that Dom and Lilia will be one of the first casualties on the judges' chopping board.

I absolutely hate the idea of a results show, especially when it's pre-recorded, on the following night.

Obviously, the BBC think SCD fans have no life and therefore can accommodate watching SCD two nights in a row. Also noticed that it will finish five minutes after Corrie starts.

Not happy either about the dance-off --that's just plain cruel. What's the point of people spending money to vote when the final decision is the judges?

Me thinks that the BBC are so bereft of decent programmes and talented producers to think up the programmes, especially family entertainment ones, that they are milking the golden goose and shoving an extra SCD in the hopes they can palm it off as two family entertainment programmes on the weekend. It's easier than trying to think up something new I guess.

Just hope this overkill doesn't send SCD down the ratings ladder.

I am so unhappy with this that I am having a huge rethink on how much I will vote as no matter what we do the final say is not ours.
I will not line the BBC s pockets with money from my phone votes when I cna't influence the final decision.

There is actually not much point in voting at all because the judges favourites will be saved week after week and although that will probably result in the best dancers being in the final, it won't allow for viewers favourites which is totally disregarding the viewers of this show.

There is for and against. While the voting public can be a law unto themselves sometimes, resulting in people like Chris Parker getting to the final, it is their choice who they want to see on their screens each week. Not the judges. Although I don't believe it will be the judges who get the final say anyway- they will be told who to save by the powers that be. And this will all be about saving the so-called big names. Also probably some of the pro dancers who I have read are being paid different fees for this series.

As for the results show being pre-recorded. If they are hoping to gain extra viewers in some ratings war against ITV, then they will be sadly mistaken as it will almost certainly leak out who has gone and who has stayed.

This could be the beginning of the end for SCD. Once the shows are tampered with it usually means the axe is not far off. Anyone remember what they did to Blind Date?!

I can't believe this. This is going to ruin Strictly. I don't mind having it on the following night but this dance off rubbish with the judges choosing is dreadful. You are absolutely right. It is the only show from the BBC I was looking forward to and now I am so disappointed with this latest twist.

They had the perfect formula with this show and now someone in the BBC decides to muck it up. You can be a 100% certain the winner will be leaked on the internet. A lot of people also cannot spend the time on Sunday watching the results. I am usually in on a Sat but not on Sun.

Early Sunday nights means it will probably clash i the soap hour which will damage it's ratings.

So what numpty at the BBC has come up with this idea.

I could live with the results show being on Sunday if it was live, but prerecorded is just a pathetic idea. If they need something to up ratings on a Sunday night why not come up with some new programmes - too simple I suppose.

In a way it will be a bit like how I recently watched DWTS - some dances were exciting but when it came to the results, I was like, ok I wonder how this will go.

There will be no tension in a prerecorded show - even if I manage to avoid knowing who's gone. How can I jump for joy or scream nooooo at the telly when I know what I'm watching happened hours ago.

If the Beeb are reading this - this is the most STUPID idea ever.

I don't really like this idea at all either as the public don't get to make the final decision. I liked it the way it was where the judges helped towards the couple's scores but overall it was the public choice. I really hope they change it back.....

Again, I like the concept of the judges saving someone who is clearly a better dancer - spoony went out too early, chris Parker, Fiona Philips and others had a sympathy vote.

But then the public DOES have a right to vote for decent entertainment - maybe Chris Parker did this? (didn't think I'd ever say that, but recently watched series one again)

I dunno, its not so bad.

BUT, much as I like this new concept of watching strictly and then going out with my non-dancing boyfriend - rather than being out and missing the live show - or staying in every saturday, I totally agree that the results show should be live - and just think - twice as many of us could have gone if there had been tickets for two shows a week!!!!!

If I'm right, using last years time shift doesent this mean that the final wont be to Xmas eve?? by whch time I'm clebrating the festive perod and SCD is nearing the back of my mind.

Trying to vote for your favourite couple in one hour should be interesting
Last year the lines were blocked and many couldnt get their votes in at all!

I think this makes it more important to vote - if your favourite couple aren't in the bottom two then the judges don't get a say.

Someone said earlier that this would change things like Peter staying after his samba - no it wouldn't the decision that night would have been between Claire and Brendan and Ray and Camilla. Im not sure the decisions would have been any different. But last year we would have had Emma in the final instead of Matt but then Mark Ramprakash would still have won. So individual weeks may change but i dont think the eventual winner will.

This is the system Dancing On Ice use and I have to say I like it there. I can only think of once in two series that they have made a mistake, which they admit now. But then they dont tend to play favourites. I find some comfort in the fact Len has the casting vote I tend to find more tuned to reality than the other three.

The fact that the Strictly results show is going to be pre recorded actually makes The X Factor a more 'credible' programme to watch, at least their results show is LIVE and the results are announced on the same night which adds to the suspense!

I feel so sorry for the real losers in this which are CIN As soon as the public hear that the results have been tampered with and their vote doesn't properly count for anything, I'm sure not many people will be voting on Strictly this year which means CIN will suffer.

Our only hope is for ratings to drop below The X Factor and for tabloid newspapers to pick up on the unfairness in the voting, then the BBC might listen.

With this new system in place, they might as well axe Series 5 and hand Kelly Brook the trophy now!

What's the point of having the results show recorded, that's the most spontanious bit, that really needs to be live, and on the same night as the show. Here's an idea, record the dances, and do the results show live.

Otherwise the whole immediacy is lost, and the entertainment event of the night becomes the X-Factor.

why are they doing this!! this is meant to be Saturday night television!! and saturday night show. I loved the fact that we used to have to wait an hour before the results... BBC are you stupid!! we all hate sundays!!

The vote money goes towards Children in Need ~ due to the license fee I believe the BBC are forbidden from profiting from phone votes in programmes such as this. Hence Fame Academy being for comic relief, and so on.
