block the specific calls

Is it possible to block the specific international incoming calls
(landline and mobile)?

Is it possible to block the specific 0844 outgoing calls from my Virgin home number?

How much will it be cost for me and how can i do it?

BT offer a service called choose to refuse, allows you to block a ceratin amount of numbers.

You should be able to block non-geographic outgoing as well.

Many thanks
BT
"The Choose to Refuse only allows ten numbers to be barred.
First month is free and thereafter a price of £8.00 per quarter. "

Tiscali*Talk
£3.50 per month

BT often masks incoming international calls, so you only see International on the Caller Display. Not sure if like withheld it's still possible to use Choose To Refuse to block the number even though it's hidden.

Some people decide to ignore all calls flagged as International, the problem with that is you may be ignoring calls from friends, relatives and neighbours who are actually in the UK but using a low cost call provider who routes the call out the UK and back in again as it's cheaper.

Thanks for reply.

1) I have got Virgin home phone.
Virgin can bar ( using pin ) all outgoing (08......) calls for 1.75 per month.

2) It is more important for me to block the incoming home and mobile calls from Russia (I hope the men understand me).

3) I am sure that those calls would not be withheld or private.

Anonymous Caller Rejection is the only inbound call blocking service Virgin Media Cable phone offer I'm afraid.

Although it's drastic action I think a number change will be your best way around it.

Hi, sorry to hijack this thread but its on the same lines as the OP.

I am getting a lot of calls marked as "international" on my caller display and I don't know anyone abroad who could possibly be trying to contact me nor do I know anyone who uses a call routing service.

Does anyone know if the BT anonymous call reject works on international calls? I think this is the only way I am going to get this person to stop ringing.

Anonymous call reject will only work for calls that are withheld - as far as I know there is no option to stop incoming international calls only outgoing.

Only works on withheld number.

Are you sure you know no-one that uses other call providers other than BT or cable, even some of the more well known providers such as TalkTalk and Sky have at one time routed outside the UK and back-in again, they may still do. So it's not just Call 18866, Call 1899 and 18185 that doe this.

Though preventing all International calls might not be a good idea if and when friends and family do use the likes of low cost call providers, when I was BT line user, if I ignored International, I'd virtually bever speak to anyone as all friends and family were using a inclusive evening and weekends call provider for free and 1899/18185.

When I cancelled the BT line and went VoIP only through cable broadband, that didn't mask the 00441... number as international, it displayed it and displayed the programmed name fine.

Really we should be pressuring BT to stop masking most International calls and show all of them.

I quite agree about BT showing the number on international calls, I could have called them back to see what the fuss was about.

Well the mystery has been solved, I finally managed to answer one of the calls and spoke to someone who could understand me. It was a company alledging to carry out market research in return for a £30 amazon voucher. I politely told them no thank you and asked them to remove me from their list. 48 hours later and no international calls on my phone, yippeee!

Thanks to all. It is pity but you are right.
Virgin cannot block the incoming calls which numbers I know.
