Had the following e-mail today from the `Really useful group`
Polydor Records imprint Fascination is delighted to announce the signing of Lee Mead to a long-term record deal.
The 26-year-old winner of BBC’s Any Dream Will Do is currently putting the finishing touches to his self titled debut album ‘Lee Mead’, which is set for release on November 19th. The first single ‘Gonna Make You A Star’ - originally a number one hit back in 1974 for David Essex –will follow on December 3rd.
Lee Mead has become a household name, earning rave reviews as the lead in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hugely successful sell out show ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’.
Fan of the show Gary Barlow went to see the musical earlier this year and as a result has written a new song called ‘When I Need You The Most’ for Lee’s album.
The album is being recorded at the famous Soho Studios in London and is being produced by award-winning producer Graham Stack, who has recently been working with Enrique Iglesias among others. ‘Lee Mead’ will also include Paint It Black as performed on the BBC’s Any Dream Will Do along with the official ‘Children In Need’ single ‘Any Dream Will Do’ which reached number two in the UK singles chart in the summer.
Lee is signed to Polydor via The Really Useful Group, with whom Polydor have enjoyed a successful relationship for more than twenty years.
I suppose this is the exciting news we were told about afew months ago from the RUG.
