What does it say in the manual?

It's a bit much where they describe it as a "high definition DVD player" when it clearly isn't, decent price though.

sorry ,should have said in original message, nothing in the manual relating to the usb. its a fine player for the price, i bought it initially for its divx playback. havent got the means at the minute to try the hdmi upscaling function. have tried the card reader , and thats a great addition to the player. even tried usb with 512 mb mp3 player and it worked fine. only thing i dont like is the disc tray. its quite flimsy like a cd jewel case. not one for heavy handed children , but if you take care it shouldnt be a problem .
now , to my initial query, any ideas? anybody?

one forum says the usb is only for pen drives, many boxes have usb ports for possible future use with firmware updates rather than immediate use.

On such a cheap player the upscaling may not be much use (it doesn't hurt to try though). However on 576p over hdmi you may well get an improvement for films which are naturally progressive anyway (let your TV do the upscaling).
