OK please recommend or point me in the right direction to one of these sets that actually works.
- Just bought and returned a Technika that went to the effort of expanding the 4x3 pan/scan image and expanding it to fit the 16x9 window

Thanks.

Most will display 4:3 correctly, most also give you the option of fattyvision. I think you were unlucky with your choice, the top brands certainly give you the option of a correctly formatted display - I don't know any that don't.

Sorry that should have read in 16x9 (widescreen) mode, it CROPS the pan/scan image - so losing the left and right of the transmitted wide screen image, before expanding it to fill the 16x9 screen. Double damage, fattyvision without the edges.

The smaller LG screens do this to I believe - Well I had one on order and cancelled it as soon as I found this out. Looking elsewhere / for a bigger screen now...

Update:
The other problem was that the screen size is actually 16:10! so no possible win there!

I finally got a Goodmans 20" which had true 16:9 picture and not 16:10
Currys had lots of 19" 16:10 and Comet had loads 20" 16:9 - and one 16:10 which highlighted the problem.

I had the same problem with a Technika 19" I bought for the kitchen off eBay. Seller acknowledged the problem and gave a full refund - including return postage - but said I was the first to complain and he had sold 100s.

So there's 100s if not 1000s [Tesco sell them] of people out there viewing fatty vision with half (or less) of a channel logo at the top left!
