I have had the 710 for a couple of years now but recently the picture 'glitches' lots on most of the ITV stations. The signal strength/quality indicator are both full green and the strange thing is that I also have a VTX-D800U (standalone Sony freeview tuner) and when connected to the same aerial feed the picture is perfect.

Anyone else had picture problems with the freeview tuner in the RDR-HXD710? It seems strange I never have the problem on the BBC channels.

Picture has started flickering from dark to light colours, hadnt pinned it down to just ITV channels, but certainly been happening the last couple of weeks

Thanks for your reply. Your issue does sound quite different, by 'glitches' I meant I see momentary lines of largish blocks where the data is obviously missing from the picture. My issue looks exactly the same as if the signal was too weak or poor quality (but it isn't).

I guess I'm going to have to put my machine in for repair
Anyone have any recommendation for choosing between the service departments of either the Guildford, Portsmouth or Farnham branches of Sony Centre (all of them are about the same distance from my home)?

I also have both an RDR-HXD710 and a VTX-D800U and I can't say I've noticed a problem with picture quality on either. Having said that, I'm in a different region from you.

The 710 has been overrunning on a few late-night recordings recently, which has caused problems with a lack of disk space for subsequent timer programs.

Feeling a bit silly but worked out I had a faulty aerial amplifier. Replaced the booster and now the picture quality is much better. Must assume the ITV channels are weaker in my area (Hampshire) and thus were affected more by the faulty amplifier.
Strangely was still showing good signal level and quality even when the picture was rubbish so shows you can't trust the signal strength indicators too much.
