Bought the 160gb classic in New York and it's been fine BUT on Thursday it's started freezing when I try and transfer songs

I've restarted the machine, I've reinstalled itunes

Last night I took everything off the ipod and reloaded all the songs and it was fine but this morning it's playing up again

Little help ??

Or should I just box it up and go raise hell in the Apple store in Leeds

Have you tried restoring the iPod ?

Connect the iPod up and from in iTunes under your iPod, select Restore

This will reinstall the software on the iPod

The only other thing I can think is it could be a corrupt song, If you only transfer a few songs over is it ok (Try using the sync selected playlists only)

It might be worth doing a search on the apple forums http://discussions.apple.com/index.jspa , there is usually a lot of helpful advice on there

You know it was fine until i transfered a couple of audiobooks - so i'll take everything off again - delete the books from the library and try again

To be honest probably not. It is chock full of bugs at the minute. Apple are fully aware of the bugs but don't seem to care less about the problems. The clock and art work issue are the two biggies. They seem to have cleared up the cover flow problem.
Thankfully I haven't had a problem with mine, it's run OK. Admittedly I'm over impressed with the sound quality or the use of iTunes, but I got round the sound problem.

Just keep checking for updates. I would imagine they'll have (hopefully) a new one out next Friday, they need to the calls and returns to Apple are growing.

Well everything went back ok fine so let's see what happens next time I try and put new tracks on it

So Apple have got until March to fixed the damn thing, when I'm going back to New York if not I will stomp into the (gloriously shiny) Apple Store

I know it's bad form to reply to your reply but just thought I'd pop this update on

I just bought 3 CDs today, dumped them on itunes, asked itunes very nicely to pop them on my classic and.........stone the crows it did

I'm still not holding my breath about it being 100% fixed though

How is that "annoying"? If they are aware of a problem, they will no doubt release a fix when it is ready.

And maybe pigs will fly. They STILL haven't fixed the clock issue. Which actually negates the point of actually adding artwork.
Apple you are pathetic.
