*VERY* excited of SCDV after watching the Saturday preview.

I think BBC has selected the VTs well generally as the couples seemed very comfortable with each other most of the time.

My impressions? Well here's the low-down (going by the order in which the couples are shown in the Preview):

1) Matt and Flavia

Flavia seemed over the moon when she saw Matt for the first time. In fact I think she might even have a crush on him! Matt is trying hard to play the cool bloke but you can tell he's chuffed to have a pretty and sexy teacher. They looked like they are getting along *very* well and very comfortable with each other.

'Boobies! Boobies accident!'

I believe they are doing cha-cha-cha by the look of it? Well he seems very good at trashing - I mean thrashing - Flavia around the dance floor that's for sure. Chris Parker I think he's not. Somewhere I read he's a good mover so I think he might end up like Mark Ramprakash - excellent in latin but not as brilliant in ballroom...

2) Letitia and Darren

She looked like she's not a very confident woman. Something is holding her back she's not very sure of herself. Needs a lot of constant encouragement and reassurance from Darren. I am glad she got Darren who is often very patient and sweet with his celeb partner.

I really hope she will not crumble under the criticisms of the judges (looks like she might get some flake in her first performance going by the 'training footage'). In fact their clip worries me. It didn't show very much of what they might be doing, is that a rhumba? That requires a LOT of intimacy and confidence, which I think Letitia still lacks at the moment. I guess she probably can act the part of a sexy partner in the rhumba, but I am not sure if she'll end up like Georgina... I really hope not. Claire seems to think she's going to be the dark horse of SCDV, so maybe there will be some surprise in store for us!

3) Kelly and Brendan

That super-K chick with the fiery Brendan? What more can I say?

She wasn't afraid to speak her mind and be very frank with her opinions from the look of it ('I really don't think I can work with THAT Brendan'). Yes, from their first meeting you can tell Brendan was very happy (his eyes darted up and down between her face and her 'best assets' before they closeed in with a hug).

Kelly showed a LOT of confidence and that seemed to have 'scared' Brendan a little (remember Brendan said in SCD4 he's not used to 'strong' women like Claire). Still her confidence might come off as off-putting to many female viewers (even though she smiled that disarming smile of hers whenever she's saying something bold or controversial).

'We have to win this, you understand? I am in it to win it'.

'I am out of his league, hahaha!!!' I know, I know, she's supposed to be jesting, but in a cheerleader kind of way...

No clips of their training except her lying down with a water bottle looking sexy?

'She's not breathing! Mouth to mouth!'

Brendan! Get a grip!

Oops, pun not intended!

I would say Kelly might be the answer in drawing in a lot of male viewers this year. Whether they will vote for her as fervently as the females viewers vote for their fav male celebs remains to be seen though...

From the look of it they are doing a rhumba (as opposed to the quickstep), and she seemed to be able to 'act' up the intimacy of the dance. I believe it's intentional for her first dance to be rhumba, because Beeb is trying to hook the blokes out there at the beginning of the show... Very clever...

I suspect she'll be a good mover, like Emma. That said, things might backfire if she becomes a teachers' pet. I can see Craig gushing all over her (because he's friend of Kelly's boyfriend Billy Zane). Still BBC's change in format this year with the judges picking the loser this year might just see her going all the way to the finals.

4) Kate and Anton

First off, they showed Kate and Kelly talking with each other in their costumes. They seemed to be comparing their 'best assets' (the way Kate pointed to Kelly's boobies)!

Anyway, she seemed like a fun character to be with Anton. Their first meeting? Anton, like Brendan, (involuntarily) set his eyes on her 'best assets' and the rest of her figures seconds after they first met. Another clip showed them hugging and then Anton's eyes travelled down to her boobies again. Us men, we are so predictable, aren't we? I guess we can't help ourselves in the presence of cup-runneth-over boobies like Kate's and Kelly's so...

Anyway, back to to the VT. Shouldn't they be doing quickstep if they are doing the ballroom on their first performance? The clip only show Anton trying to teach her the 'hold' and precious nothing else...

'You just undid my underwear!' Anton - you perv!

Can't say very much from the VT, but she might be the Carol Smilie of the series. It doesn't help as this year it seems there will be a lot of competition from the women celebs and I figure Kate, although she doesn't looks like a Fiona Phillips, might, if she survives the jive (Anton's cursed dance), probably just scrapped through to the quarter finals at best...

I think the way it will work will be to do with the pro dancers speciality.

i.e Willie & Erin = waltz
Brian & Karen = Cha Cha Cha
Matt & Flavia = Waltz
Gethin & Camilla = Cha Cha Cha
John & Nicole = Waltz
Dom & Lilia = Cha Cha Cha
Kenny & Ola = Cha Cha Cha

Similarly

Steph & Vincent = Quickstep
Kate & Anton = Quickstep
Aleesha & Matt = Quickstep
Letitia & Darren = Rumba
Penny & Ian = Rumba
Kelly & Brendan = Rumba
Gobby & James = Rumba

Personally I think those doing ballroom should survive their first week, those doing latin first could be in big trouble

From SCD4, Nicholas was voted off the competition for doing a woeful waltz and Jimmy was at the bottom two and the relatively less strenuous waltz didn't help him either.

As for the ladies, Mica did go out with her rhumba routine. Can't remember who was with her at the bottom two though...

Georgina & James were in the bottom two-another rumba performance

From the training I think Matt and Flavia, Dominic and Lilia and John and Nicole are doing the Cha Cha. Kenny and Ola look to be doing the Waltz. Not sure about the other guys, but I'm guessing Willie and Erin will also be doing the Waltz.

As for the girls, again from limited training footage Alesha and Matt seem to be doing the Rumba and Penny was doing ballroom exercises. I have also heard that Gabby is doing the Quickstep. I would think the rest are probably right, although not sure about Letitia.

Brian and Karen were doing the classic cha-cha-cha move in the VT. Y'know the move than she did with Mark in their opening sequence of their cha-cha last year...

Even though Penny seemed to be doing some ballroom steps, it doesn't look like a quickstep to me. I think the second week they are either doing quickstep or rhumba so maybe Ian was trying to show her some basic ballroom steps and not really going into the actual dance proper for week two.

Now she's someone who I think will do well -Penny, she's got a good partner in Ian.

Oh thanks for that - I missed their section! Not surprised Karen is starting with Cha really, perhaps you're right about Penny and Ian...we'll have to wait and see!

Fairly certain the Alesha and Matthew are doing the rumba.
