So all this time the subtext of New Who has been Rocky Horror...

Well the possibilities are endless. He could be head of gallifrey, chained up in a Dalek Dungeon for extermination practice, allergic to Time Travel, still Jon Pertwee stuck on Earth without knowledge that the time war happened,...or exactly the same as he is now but never met Rose because she didn't exist in that universe (which would probably suggest he'd still be CE then since he regenerated to save her really...)

Equally the Doctor could be unique to this universe and theirs is a much more boring place.....Zepplins and all!

I'd love to see Rose come back. Billie Piper's likeable character and performances helped the new revamped Dr Who to become the runaway success it's been.

All through the first season we were all rooting for her. It's partly why we're all so still involved in it now. I'd love Rose Tyler back. She was brilliant!

I have to say that I would rather have Rose than Donna. I tried to like her but couldn't. I liked Martha as well.

I think the middle word should be 'to' not 'the'.

one of the reasons why Sarah Janes return had the impact it did was the fact that she had been away from the series for quite a while so it gave the audience real anticipation at her coming back after all that time...what would her reaction be at seeing The Doctor again after being dumped back on Earth etc...

bringing Rose back after only an absence of one or two series doesn't seem long enough....

I think that there is only one Doctor across all universes. Time Lords stood outside of time and governed time across all possible universes. I think somehow the TLs made sure of this because when they existed the Doctor or any other TL could travel to any parallel universe.

I'd agree with the previous postee.

The Timelords didn't exist in the alternate realities just ours, but they could travel between universes as well as in time.
Going back to "Inferno" the Doctor didn't meet an alternate version of himself there, just the alternate versions of the humans we knew.
Be interesting to have a story exploring why they only existed in our universe.

Isn't a 'postee' a person who has been posted?

Oh well that's quite boring then, no chance of a goatee'd David Tennant turning up as the head of the evil Gallifrey overlord empire then!

It'd also suggest Time Lords travelled to alternate versions of Gallifrey and extinguished the population of their mirror home planet to make sure they were the only Time and Space and Universe travelling species....and they did that for the infinity or so universes there are supposed to be?

Maybe they have a little alarm or something when an opposite and equal reaction creates another alternate universe with Time Lords in it....off they go to exterminate...
Hmmm.....

I would much rather rose not come back until about the 8th series (if Dr.Who gets that far)
i hated series 2, im not sure wether it was Billie piper or generaly poor writting.. most of series 2 was so poor it didnt even deserve a DVD realese.
it doesnt mean that her "return" would be crap.

Rose coming back - I hope not as am not convinced that RTD could pull it off in a satisfactual way.

Although, I wouldn't put it past his sentimental streak to have Dave Tennant meet Rose, realise that there is a way to stay with her, activate the chameleon/watch thingy and then pass the watch onto Catherine Tate for her to open and become the new doc.

Then I grab the popcorn and watch the cult section of DS and Outpost Gallifrey go into meltdown.

Or how about The Doctor regenerating into Rose so they are truly as one? Billie apparently said she wanted to play The Doctor. Ooh, I feel a bit ill.
