She may miss out on the group dance this week but if she's determined and the injury is not too serious, then she might just recover well enough to compete in two week's time when the competition really starts for the ladies celebs.

Aw I really like Kate and was looking forward to her appearing. Either way hope she's better soon.

...though I didn' think she'd been on gmtv recently - (well hardly anyway)
Miss Garraway had been cramming in a full day at work, leaving home at 2.30am to present from the GMTV sofa before

I can sympathise with Kate. And poor Anton, just when he thought he had a good partner.

I recently broke my ankle and just for good measure ripped the ligaments away from the bone bringing a small piece of bone with it. Ouch!

I was told to keep off it use crutches etc. I missed one weeks dance lesson, and after that I decided to go for broke as I have an exam coming up next month. I didnt have a cast on it as the doc decided it was stable so just strapping thank goodness. I felt a bit of an idiot turning up for a dance lesson on crutches! Didnt do much first time but gradually am buildng it up and taking strong painkillers. Saw Physio last week and she was really pleased that I had so much movement in it as most people are afraid to try to move and finish up with a rigid joint.

I do most of my lesson in socks, which causes a lot of teasing but am now trying to use my shoes a bit. I would say that Kate should try to dance in lower heeled shoes, very high thin heels will be difficult. Maybe get through this first week in lower heels and then go back to the others.

Accidents etc seem to come when you least want them and of course the media are always ready to jump on anything. there is something to be said for being an ordinary mortal and so getting on with it quietly.

Good luck Kate.

According to ITV breakfast this morning she has tendonitis in her foot, which is heavily bandaged, a decision will be taken tomorrow on whether Kate can participate.

Hopefully as the ladies competition does not really start until Saturday week she will have time to recover.

I injured soft tissue areas of knee couple of years back - never been OK since (always tell weather change) - docs said would have been better to have a break as that would have healed quicker. Hope it's just inflamed and not really damaged - want to see her dance.

If she can't continue then I really hope they have someone on standby to take her place - it would be such a shame if Anton wasn't in the series at all this year

I think the majority of the public would greatly miss Anton's participation, he is a huge asset to the series

Alesha Dixon just said on Loose Women that Kate just has to rest for a few days and then she will be fine. Hopefully that is the case...fingers crossed!

Every sympathy with Kate and hoping she can recover and take part but for her to say in quote saying that she thought it was just poncing about in a dress is ludicrous.

This is really really bloody hard to do. People seem to think they can literally just walk into dance training 6 hours a day. They cannot. My fitness is good but not as good as two years ago when I did the Inca Trail in Peru. I trained hill walking and in a gym for 5 months. Even then, it was immensely hard.

Dancing for that amount of time is very very demanding. It is one reason why sportspeople do so well. Whereas a lot of showbiz types sole form of exercise is propping a bar up as I well know. The average age of people doing this is the wrong side of 35. The kids on SDF were regularly crocking themselves at 18.

It should be mandatory for the celebs to do a specialised fitness programme for 2 months before they even put dance shoes on. I'm not saying injuries can be avoided but it'll improve the stamina if nothing else.

I'm hoping this has been over-dramatised by the tabloids (surely not!). At least it's the boys starting in the first week. Would be awful to lose her and then only have 2 in the final again. I felt slightly cheated last year!!

There was a photo of Kate and Anton the London Lite paper. They were at some function. Both of Kate's feet were heavily straped- tendon problem. Looked really nasty, she was on crutches.

EDIT:Sorry, just realised that i've just repeated what is on ds already

I am sure Kate said they would be there on saturday night.
I had t laugh when they asked Anton who he thought might
go on saturday, he smiled and said we should all vote for Erin and Willie.

Luckily the first week is just the men competing but she definately said they would be there doing something spectacular, maybe by Strictly Casualty as Anton put it. What a shame though, the tendinitis doesn't sound like it'll heal quickly.
