Going on past form, the fact that the Sun has direct quotes from the actor involved is usually an indication that the story is true.

I don't think Christoper Ryan's height should be much of a problem as they've been various different heights over the years. It's still going to look a bit funny though seeing him face up to Tennant who's over a foot taller than him!

I don't see why the original alien make up from over 20 years ago makes the rumour any less valid!

Perhaps the rest of the Young Ones cast are available too. Alexi Sayle already looks like a Sontaron.

You are right - Was having a blonde moment

I cant even justify my train off thought, because that does not make sense either.

No more heavy weekends for me!

Still unsure with all this specualtion if every rumour being release is true though!

I'll have to agree that having direct quotes from an actor (unless he comes out and denies it) does make this Sun story more likely to be true than the usual "Source at the BBC" type of story they run.

The Time War caused their cloning process to go wrong and 3 whole batches came out looking like Rhinos rather than potatoes.

The Sontaran Empire was really embaressed by this and fudged the Galactic records so that these Juddoon (Sontaran for Ugly) were classified as a seperate species.

ans also saved a few quid when the BBC reuse their costumes for the Sontarans.

Looking forward to this!

I hope there's no mention to the Judoon. I prefer it when the storylines don't rely too much on previous episodes.

Could this be for the first episode? There's supposedly a "big alien attack on London" that causes Donna to seek out the Doctor, after all - that could easily be the work of the Sontarans! Plus I'm sure I read the first ep hadn't actually been filmed yet

Could be! They probably need the Doctor to get rid of the Sontarans since he's one of the few people on the planet who's encountered them (except Sarah Jane but she has her own series to attend to).

Oooh! Another "big alien attack on London"! Quite why aliens would spend so much time devising attacks on such a galactic shithole, I really can't fathom!

And Chris Ryan playing a Sontaran? What is it, a baby one? He'll only reach the Doctor's knee! Ooooh, scary!!!

Sounds like another misinfo story...

Only seen the pic of that, but it was enough to make me laugh my arse off! Begs the question: if we're ever invaded by evil aliens that looked completely ridiculous, had squeaky voices and farted a lot, would we all be too busy laughing like 60's Batman villains to notice the rout of civilisation? Perhaps the way to go for invading alien hordes... don't look all terrifying and evil, as we'll all pull together and defeat you - just look like something out of an RTD story, and we'll just collapse into a giggling heap - Earth's yours.

Hmmm, I distinctly remember a race of Star Trek aliens that looked almost identical to that.....adding up the time frames and all that....did ST completely rip off this alien "look"

Sadly I cannot for the life of me remember what they were called, what they did or even which episode they appeared in, the only thing I do remember is that they....looked like a Sontaaran...apparently.

Anyone know what I mean?

nice.

I wonder how they will introduce them, because a lot of people wouldn't know about them, i have only seen them once in the ep TWO DOCTORS. The best way probally will be for the doc just to mention that he has run into them in the past.

The thing is that small characters be made to work well as aggressive characters.

Big tall characters can tend to look lumbering and slow and not that menacing.
But small characters can often appear very vicious, terrier-like, and sort of nastier.

But I can see mention of the Judoon working as a good dramatic device, and I can see them doing it.

We see characters dressed like Judoon wearing helmets, and anybody who doesn't know will just assume that it's the Judoon. But then the helmets are removed and anybody who isn't aware of the spoilers are shocked to see that it's the Sontarans.
There's good potential in that for a powerful dramatic device.

the race appeared in ST:Voyager in "Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy" and even though they are name checked, I can't find there name on line.
talking about name checking,
Spoiler
the Sontarans and the Zygons are mentioned in SJA's 2nd story.

Let's just hope The Sontarans haven't turned into bitchy old queens with smug one liners. Is RTD writing their episode?

If it's the opening episode then he will more than likely.
