Question regarding optical audio connections
So, I have this soundcard.
It has 1 optical output and 1 input. Currently the one input goes to my 5.1 decoder. If I want to use my Xbox 360's optical output, I have to take the cable out of the soundcard and put it in the 360. The soundcard has 1 optical input, can I buy a second cable which would connect from the 360 to the optical in, then run the original cable from the optical out to the decoder? Thanks. |

Are you trying to have both the Xbox and PC soundcard play through the 5.1 decoder?
Why don't you use a Toslink switch? |

Yes. I had no problem accomplishing it before with the same kind of setup but with just phono cables.
I assumed the principle would be the same. I just thought that the decoder might not like decoding 2 different inputs at the same time. Thanks for the link, i'll pick one up tomorrow. |
