Strange Fact you know about SCD...?
Don't know whether this thread will take off, but wondered if people knew of any strange, funny or unusual facts about the show not much mentioned or written about enough to be common knowledge?
Thought we could all post our little titbits of info and compile an interesting list. ![]() I'll start off by saying I only found out about a year ago that one the people I most admire in the world, Matthew Bourne, the most successful Dance-Theatre choreographer in Britain and around the world, was originally asked to be a Judge on the show!! ![]() I guess he turned them down so they asked either Craig or Bruno instead? I read it in an oldish interview, and was incredibly shocked! Comparing Matthew Bourne with Craig or Bruno would be like comparing Fred Astaire to Darren Day......

Not so much a strange fact but an observation.
Though I didn't have the pleasure to watch SCD1 to SCD3, I noticed that for SCD2, SCD3 and SCD4 finals, the celebs that danced first NEVER won the title. Can anyone confirm if Natasha was the first to dance in the finals of SCD1??? |

Don't know whether this one has been mentioned or not somewhere else - but I believe the partner that Claire Sweeney had (SCD1) John something or other was behind the whole thing with the BBC - think I read that somewhere

Like MegaDancer I too love the idea of this thread but unfortunately have nothing to contribute.
Will certainly be reading it though.

Natasha was the first to dance in SCD1
My random thing I noticed when watching Series One the other day is that although Anton has taken part in all four series, he has only danced the Paso once .... with Lesley. Natasha & Brendan and Mark & Karen had the same Waltz song. x x x x x |

The person who gets the highest mark in the first round has never gone on to win the series, unless you count Mark in series four. Because the men and women were split up in series four, Mark won week one, but of the two first rounds Emma received the highest score.
The person who gets the highest mark in the first round often goes on to have problems getting the public vote- Emma, Zoe, Denise. Including scores from the Christmas Special, Zoe Ball holds the record highest score for more dances than any other celeb- Rumba (38), Samba (38), Foxtrot (38), Tango (38), Viennese Waltz (36- joint with Mark Ramprakash). Fiona Phillips holds the record lowest score for every dance she performed- Waltz (11), Rumba (13), Jive (16), Foxtrot (20). That's not a strange fact though- she was dreadful! |

CRH has only ever given a ten for a dance when the other three judges have all given tens as well.
Louisa Lytton received the earliest ever ten when Bruno gave a full marks for her second dance of series four (jive). |

CRH has only ever given four tens! I think the others have all given at least three times as many as he has.

Darren was the first up with his (dreadful) cha cha on the series - but I think he was last to dance in the final.....

Did Darren Gough dance first? I seem to think he did, but I could be wrong...
I think Colin danced first. He got 39 for his quickstep? But I was told Natasha from series went first so this trivia is not really that intriguing any longer... |

Claire Sweeney and John Byrnes hold the record for the highest scoring couple to get knocked out (in a week with only one dance per couple.)
They scored 32 in Series 1 Week 5, finishing second out of five couples but still ended up leaving the show. The record losing high score for a two dance show is 69 for Emma Bunton and Darren Bennett in the Series 4 Semi-Final. The lowest scoring couple not to be eliminated were Fiona Phillips and Brendan Cole, who scored 11 in Week 1 of Series 3 and survived. |

There does seem to be something lucky about being the first to dance in the first show of the series. All those that have made the final.
Series 1- Natasha Series 2- Julian Series 3- Darren Series 4- Matt. Anybody who believes in astrology might be interested in this little fact. 3 out of the 4 winners have been Virgos. They are Natasha, Darren and Mark. 2 other finalists have also been virgo's- Denise Lewis and Chris Parker. With the inclusion of Chris there, the theory on virgo's being good dancers goes astray! But I reckon there must be something in it! And before anyone asks- there are no virgo's in this years line-up! I checked! So having a pre-show bet using that theory isn't possible this year! |

That's really disappointing! I love that kind of statistic. I knew Tash was a Virgo, but not Darren & Mark as well! x x x x x x |

The celebrities who have either danced first or last in the 1st week had all gone on to win Strictly Come Dancing.
Series 1 - Natasha was the first person in the group to dance Series 2 - Jill was the last person in the group to dance Series 3 - Darren was the first person in the group to dance Series 4 - Mark was the last person in week 1 group to dance If the pattern is to be continued, then the first male or female to step onto the dancefloor this year would win Strictly 5. |

Not really strange, but still a fact:
8 out of 21 of the professional dancers who have appeared on Strictly Come Dancing hold world championship titles. Not bad! |

That's got me stumped! Matt & Nicole, Karen, Hazel, Hanna Karttunen, Paul... Vincent & Flavia?
Am I even close? |
