Karen has never held a world championship title.
Paul, Matthew & Nicole - amateur Latin champions. Hanna - professional Exhibition champion. Hazel - professional Standard champion. Kylie - amateur Standard champion. Vincent & Flavia - professional Argentine Tango champions. |

Seven out of eight- not bad! Now that you say that I had heard Karen didn't have a world title... World Masters is something different isn't it? All very confusing!

Yeah, world masters is a much smaller competition than the main five.
In recent years, it's got even smaller still. I think because it's so late in the year a lot of competitors choose to miss it nowadays. |

Not a strange fact exactly but isn't it weird how many truly awful dancers have been given to that group?
Siobhan Hayes, Diamuid Gavin, Nicholas Owen, Christopher Parker, Quentin Wilson, Jimmy Tarbuck... You'd think the BBC would be angling to keep their world champions in the competition as long as possible, but apparently not! |

I think every competitor gets a fair chance. Aren't they generally allocated their partner by height?

It's on height, location and personality I think- the luck of the draw in the end. But the world champions do seem to have had disproportionate bad luck!

Alysha Dixon was asked that on Loose Women today and she said Height was the deciding factor .
She also said Matt was very " soft " and gentle . |

Another sort of strange fact- ranking the celebs in order of their average score... not the order you might expect:
1 Zoe Ball 35.33 2 Colin Jackson 34.20 3 Emma Bunton 34.14 4 Jill Halfpenny 33.92 5 Mark Ramprakash 33.65 6= Natasha Kaplinsky 33.00 6= Denise Lewis 33.00 8 Louisa Lytton 32.00 9 Darren Gough 31.86 10 Matt Dawson 31.18 |

I'm surprised The Sweeney didn't rank amongst them!

I think Claire is just outside the top ten, with an average score of 30.
This is all from Raphael's website, I'm assuming it's accurate. |

Thanks for that katie - fascinating and revealing list, and bears out the feelings of viewers that Zoe and Emma were consistently overmarked. I read your previous stats about a 38 for Zoe's Samba - that was so not a 38 performance, however don't wish to go off topic.
![]() Ah, the halcyon days of series 2, when the judges gave scores that actually meant something and 10's were properly earned.... |

When I look at the judges' marking of Jill's latin dances it seems a bit miserly though! Eight for her jive the first time round?
And compared to DWTS the judges are still quite restrained about giving tens. |

In series 4 between week 3 (first combined men and women week) and week 8 (the last single dance show) the scores of the eliminated couple were...
27,26,25,26,26,25 So anyone scoring mid twenties this year had better start to worry! |

Craig said something along the lines of "finally, someone who can move around the floor" after Mark danced the final cha cha of the night last series. (I'm not super sad for knowing that, honest ~ i just have a freakishly photographic memory!) |
