Divx Playback from HDD

Does anyone know of a HDD/DVD recorder that is able to play divx from the hard drive once transfered from a dvd or cd ?

I was looking at the sony RDR-HXD970 but sony don't know if it's possible and ideally I want a machine that has a usb port option

Sumvision do an excellent media centre enclosre which you can just pop a regular 3.5in pc ide hard disk in it records in divx.
