sharp LC42XD1EA
have recently purchased a nice 42 sharp lcd. very happy with the picture after trying some different settings. There is some slight pixellation if you get to close, but farther away its great. i am running a sky+ box(not hd...yet) and its connected with a scart lead that came from god knows where. would there be any difference if i invested in a decent lead? also i have a Wii, someone told me i can connect this with a *component* cable that would improve things. Any Suggestions for an old(ish) bloke trying hard to keep up with technology.....! thanks

Almost certainly not - make sure it's set to RGB, and ut should be fine.

I have the 37XD10E. Make sure that your digibox is connected to EXT1 (the RGB Scart), then go into the menu, and input setup (am at work so can't remember exactly where it is), but there's an option to set EXT1 to be composite, Y/C or RGB - make sure you set that to RGB. (For some reason known only to Sharp it defaults to being composite)

Wii cables
thanks for all the help guys....i love these forums you (i) can learn so much....just one more quick question regarding the Wii component cable issue. i have noticed that the Wii component cables come with 5 connections. i understand that 3 are for colour and 2 for audio. on the connection panel on my lcd i have a 15 pin 'D' sub - 3RCA adaptor for the 3 colours but only 1 input for audio that says AUDIO(R/L) do i just plug 1 in and see if it works.....? or do i need some kind of 2into1 adaptor...?
thanks again for all the help |

The audio in is probably a 3.5mm stero jack socket, so you will need an adaptor for it.

Dont entirelyagree. Whilst I do not think that one should go for overkill solid gold etc. I have often read that using a decent scart lead with good screening can work wonders particularly compared to a pound shop cheapo. I used a pound shop cheapo scart splitter on one of my systems but I get some crosstalk patterning which OK is virtually imperceptible as it fed a relatively small LCD. Using a better one eliminates the problem. I think the clue is in the thickness of the leads and thus screening.
i always use prowire 24k kit, just because im anal about this kind of thing!! |
