My Itunes Library is suddenly empty!

Help!

I've just tried to burn a new album onto my i-pod but when I loaded up my i-tunes it was totally empty!

I tried to plug my i-pod in and it said my i-pod was already linked to another library did I want to sync and erase or cancel, so I naturally cancelled! I still have all my music on my i-pod, but how do I get it back onto my library without deleting everything I already have?

Thanks in advance

Go to My Music> iTunes. Is there a file in there called "iTunes Library"?

This happened to me a few weeks ago. After much panic, I refrained from smashing my laptop up and instead downloaded iPodGetter. Just download it, plug in your iPod and select the songs you want to extract and tell the program where you want the songs saved to. Just note that when iTunes comes up when you plug in your iPod, go to the iPod menu and set syncing to manual.

First try and find the library file and drag it into iTunes to see what that does. Then put your iPod onto manual sync..Avoids problems like this.

Hello, I had found the file but it was empty!! I even tried manually searching for songs, but I couldn't find any on my hard drive I wish I had backed it up

You don't back up your music

I always back up mine I have 16 DVD's full in case I get a problem. Too risky to keep them all on a HD and hope nothing ever goes wrong.

Forget backing up iTunes onto dvd's you should be backing up your entire computer. I have a full clone of mine which I can boot from by firewire if needed. In addition I sync valuable date via .Mac, copy my documents and settings folders to a network share, backup my purchased songs to dvd, have my home folder synced across all my machines regularly and then back up my media separately to yet another drive. You can't have enough backups.

Just to reinforce what everyone is saying: with external drives so cheap now there is absolutely no reason not to use them to back up your music collection.
