using my tv in spain

i have just moved to spain can anyone tell me if my english bought panasonic lcd tv work in this country

If you're using it linked up to a satellite/cable/digital terrestrial box etc. linked by scart then yes it will work fine.

However, for it to work with Spanish analogue terrestrial TV, you need to look at the specifications section in the instruction manual.

If there's a heading in this section labelled "system," (or something similar - look for "PAL-B/G" to be one of the listed things.

It needs to be PAL-B/G as well as PAL-I (These are the broadcast settings. PAL-I is The UK standard, and PAL-B/G the system used in most of Europe.)

If it's not multi standard, (PAL-I only), you will be able to see the picture on the Spanish channels but you won't hear any sound.

thanks for that adam it is going to be hooked up to a swiss cable provider that provides all the sky channels

That depends. On the regional public channel Canal 9 in Comunitat Valenciana (all around the Costa Blanca area), NICAM Bilingual is used to provide the original soundtrack as well as the dubbed Catalan version on imported films.
