My husband is a huge Bob Dylan fan, I'm not so keen myself, although he has grown on my a little over the years.

I do really like both these tracks though ..

I love Bob Dylan, first saw him in 1965 on his first electric tour. So much too choose from.

I saw him in Newcastle about 6 years ago and it was the worst concert I've been to. The sound was dreadful and our seats were crap. I was gutted. Dylan is a legend and I was fully expecting it to be in my top three gigs ever. Never even made top 10

I always liked his mid 60's stuff, like:

Subterranean homesick blues
I want you
It ain't me, Babe
Hard Rain
Positively 4th street.

At his best in this period, I reckon.

Bob Dylan's 115th Dream
His (far superior) version of House Of The Rising Sun
Desolation Row

Apart from that, he's rubbish. After seeing him live a few years ago with my Dad (who considers BD his all time hero) we walked away VERY disappointed! Terrible guitar solo, all the songs were sung with this terrible monotone note with a flick up at the end of each line. He didn't say a word between any of the songs. To be fair, his band outshone him completely!

Sorry to all you fans out there!

Lay Lady lay and If not for you.

Having said that I went to see him recently and he was sh*t - we left after 45 minutes he was that bad - CDs only for me from now on!

Hurricane
Simple Twist Of Fate
Tangled Up In Blue
Blind Willie McTell
Mississippi
The pedal steel guitar version of You're A Big Girl Now (from Biograph)

There again there are so many great Dylan songs, I could come up with a completely different list tomorrow.

I'd agree he is way past his 'best by' date now. His voice has lost what range and quality it had (which was never much) and he seems rather bored by it all. But in his day he was quite something.

ok this is not only the best dylan song but one of the best songs ever, actually reading the lyrics brings a tear to my eye. I believe he wrote it for one of his kids.

May God bless and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous,
May you grow up to be true,
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
May you always be courageous,
Stand upright and be strong,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,

I know you're not asking me but I have heard some snatches of it and I haven't felt as if I wanted to buy it. Perhaps it merits some more attention?

So he's rubbish because you had a bad experience at a concert

I'm not sure how you pick one favourite song, it's virtually impossible to pick a favourite Dylan album let alone favourite song.

The man has produced so much fantastic msuic over the years.

Bringing it all back home
Highway 61 revisited
Blonde on Blonde
Blood on the tracks
Desire

My favourite albums and IMO his best.
