The man's has just turned in a trilogy of albums (Time Out Of Mind / Love And Theft / Modern Times) that rank among his very best..... and the new one's a grower, too...

I'm not sure how you pick one favourite song, it's virtually impossible to pick a favourite Dylan album let alone favourite song.

The man has produced so much fantastic msuic over the years.

Bringing it all back home
Highway 61 revisited
Blonde on Blonde
Blood on the tracks
Desire

My favourite albums and IMO his best.”

I wouldn't say he's rubbish because i had one bad experience - i've found that his voice has become a caracature of himself and i just cannot take him seriously anymore. The breaking point came when i saw that very poor performance. For an iconic artist to be so lacklustre in his performance just really put a downer on me. Add to this seeing my Dad's disappointment when we left. That was his idol and the first time he had seen him (my Dad's not a huge gig follower) - i'd bought the tickets as a birthday present - and all BD could do was play a one note solo, not talk to the crowd and (vocally, at least) play the worst renditions of his songs i have ever heard. Popular songs were not recognisable in the fact that each line sung was done in this monotone with a rising flick...

"Howmanyro-OADS
....................
Mustamanwalkdo-OWN
....................
Beforeyoucancallhimama-AN"

...every song sung like that! For me...poor. No offence meant to the avid fans - just my POV!

BTW - His version of You Belong To Me was great, too.

Yes to all of the above, loved the collaboration between Dylan and the Band, one of my top ten (probably No. 1, except for Neil Diamond in a weird leisure suit) all time favourite concerts is the Last Waltz.

Ala the former cricketer Bob Willis who is such a fan he changed his name by deed poll to Robert George Dylan Willis.

There are so many great Dylan Songs along with most of those already mentionned (especially Hurricane and Lay Lady Lay) can I add:

It's All right Ma (I'm only bleeding). The content never seems to date. It was written in the 1960's but the line
"even the President of the United States has sometimes had to stand naked" is always relevant.

Away from protest, my favourite of the love songs is
Don't Think Twice It's Alright. There's a great slow bluiesy version by Stone The Crows on their Teenage Licks album.

It's amazing how many Dylan covers are really great. The Byrds especially did a fantastic version of Mr Tambourine Man. However one of my favourite covers by them is You Ain't Going Nowhere. And there is obviously the Jimi Hendrix version of All Along The Watchtower

Later in the 1970's a Liverpool band called Nutz did a another great cover, this time of One More Cup Of Coffee. And I've always liked The Blues Band's version of Maggies Farm.

Then you get to Manfred Mann - The Mighty Quinn and It's All Over Now baby blue are big fav's. But his mamoth version of Father Of Day, Father Of Night sends a shiver down my spine.

Oh, absolutely ! Melanie and Joan Baez both did wonderful versions of Don't Think Twice and I loved Melanie's Lay Lady Lay long before I heard the original.

Even Adele's 'To Make You Feel My Love' has made some people try Dylan again, apparently.

And I love the Julie Driscoll version of 'Wheel's on Fire'.
