Dolby Digital Set Up
Basically I have a Logitech z5500 system at home and have my dvd player connected to this via digital coax, I now would like to run my sky plus box through the dolby speakers however it's only connected via a scar to my dvd player.
Do I need another digital cable to connect my sky plus box to my dvd player .......something like an optical cable connecting the twoor should my sky plus already be running dolby digital? I can run Dolby pro logic through Sky plus but not Dolby Digital. |

For Dolby Digital sound you need either optical or co-ax digital cables.
The problem with most all in ones is that they dont cater for many additional devices. But the only way you'll get DD from Sky is to connect the Sky optical output to an input on the receiver/amp. The Scart is fine for video but for digital sound you need the extra cable |

Fortunately it appears the Z-5500 has both flavours of digital input. Or at least one assumes Logitech have got the specs correct on their website
![]() So all you need is a Toslink optical cable, which you may already have, to connect the Z-5500 to your Sky box. You don't connect the Sky box digital out to the DVD. If the DVD player does have an optical connection it is very likely to also be an output (unless it is a recorder) so would not work. |

Picture the scene, my sky plus box and dvd are on top of one another and the amp is about 6 meters away, I managed to get a dig coax long enough to reach my dvd player as its best to use for dvd's. It looks like i'm going to be out of luck making my sky plus box digi, I still have a optical line in my amp free however 6m away is a big problem. |
