Lol, the Weevils tend to stay in the sewers, they rarely surface heheh plus the sex alien's now gone as is the horned devil that was Abaddon.
I've not seen any aliens in a while, but I'm sure they'll surface come January the 16th lol.

^Some parts of it are beautiful, but all of the place names listed in ghost machine are VERY grotty, butetown is the most 'rundown', 'deprived' area of South Wales, when the queen visited in the 80s, they had to build a road for her to travel on and bypass it, it's so bad.

Charlotte Church and Colin Jackson both posses Cardiff accents, if you've heard of and have listened to them, use them as your reference to how Cardiffians sound and then compare that to the guy who owns that time gadget thing in ghost machine, and the kid who talks about his ipod and even Gwen and you'll notice the massive difference.

The Cardiff area has 1 million people (50% of Wales) living in it, so there's enough Cardiff-accented actors to go about.
Too me it sounds like Russell casted actors from his hometown rather than Cardiff lol.

The programme shouldnt have been set in Wales in the first place.
It either puts people off becuase of the funny voices or it looks like a backwards country.
RTD has such psychological issues with himself. Just becuase he is a gay and a Welshy he has to make all hsi programnmes feature 'gays' and ben Wales, regardless if the fact that most UK citizens are not gay nor Welsh.

I think you'll find most writers tend to write about stuff they know about, dervish. It is some what easier than writing about things of which they know nothing.

You are right about one thing:
RTD knows nothing about how the majority of poepl in the UK live or what they want from Dr Who.
He needs to realise that the MAJORITY of people, even if they do tolerate it, are not interested in 'gay' agendas.

Doctor Who is one of the highest rating shows on TV at the moment which completely ridicules your assertion that Russell T Davis doesn't know what people want from Doctor Who.
I am Scottish and can hear distinctions in Scottish and English accents but i've never heard much of a difference with Wales.
Apart from the fact that the accent can be stronger and weaker. Like, I have a internet pal in Wrexham and his Welsh accent is noticeably weaker than others i've heard.

First of all to who said it shouldn't be filemd in Cardiff for whatever reason. RTD can set it where ever he likes, a perk of being a CREATOR of a show. Accents don't come into it or we wouldn't have shows set in Liverpool, Manchester, London etc etc where people have accents..
Secondly, I lived in Cardiff for 9 years, mopved up to Pontypridd now. I work in an office with over 2,000 people and LOTS of them are from the Valleys. Either moved down to Cardiff or commute like me to a bigger better paid city. They have had Cardiff accents on the show. Bernie Harris in Ghost Machine, as well as other supporting characters. I think it shows a well balanced view of Cardiff. Fingers crossed they'll have some scenes in Lisvane or Thornhill next series to up the higher class Cardiffian quota

I am from the Valleys (not far from Merthyr Tydfil) and i can tell the difference in the accents but i think it is a realistic portrayal of cardiff.
Since the mines and factories closed (thank you Maggie Thatcher) most Valley people have to travel to Cardiff for work (including me). In my department there are 2 people from Newport, 1 from Pontypridd, 1 from Ystrad Mynach, 1 from Neath, 1 from Bristol, 1 from South Africa, 1 from Merthyr Tydfil, and 4 from Cardiff. so thats only about 20% from cardiff. Other reasons include
*Cardiff is the main shopping area for South Wales.
*People travel from all over to go clubbing in cardiff
*A lot of young professionals from the valleys are moving to the new developments in Cardiff
*2 universities in cardiff (plus glamorgan) mean that a lot of students from around the UK live in Cardiff
