Free SMS News Service?
Hi there,
Unfortunately after much searching, I am still unable to find a free UK SMS news service. By this, I mean some way to receive news updates by text on my phone, without paying per text or anything of the sort. Sadly, the BBC News service also requires that you pay .Can anyone suggest to me a free service? |

I used to sneak it with ananova breaking news by email, have it sent to my orange email, which would sent the first part of the email by text !
I've not found any way of doing it anymore. |

Given that it costs the news provider to send out the texts and to comply with the regulatory requirements. (For example they have to keep a log of the sign-up messages) I think it very unlikely you will find a completely free service. The best you can hope for is to have it included in another service or a different route. For example you could use WAP or the BBC Mobizine out of any data allowance you get.
