I would like to hear a good argument for having the results show on a Sunday, I have heard lots of moaning about it (myself included) but can anyone give me a good reason for why it was moved ? I'm at a loss to understand it myself.

The BBC had nothing else to put in that slot and decided (based upon the replay show last year) that another SCD show will get decent ratings.

Also a possibility that they have to spend longer verifying the results and so if they were to show the results live on Saturday they would go out too late - we'll have to ask those who were there what time they finished.

Good idea, I'll do that now in a new thread

Need more information.

If this is in part a response to the phone-in 'scandals' and a compliance measure aimed at ensuring voters don't get ripped off, that puts a different complexion on things.

I read an e-mail that the BBC sent someone and they said that it was due to two reasons

1) After doing research they found that people wanted to see more pro and normal dancing in the results show and so they have moved to Sunday so that they can extend the show and make the results section a show in it's own right.

2) After more research they found that many people go out on a Saturday night and so miss the results show. Also kids need to go to bed and they don't want them to miss out as it is a family show.

I agree with the ideas for doing it, but I just don't think it works. I would love to see more pro dancing - but why couldn't they just extend the show, whilst keeping it on Saturday night?

I find the wait 'till Sunday annoying, but it does give people more time to vote after seeing all the performances, which should reduce any effects of who went first, last, etc.

Edit: ... Hmm. It says in another thread that voting lines are open for only 2 hours anyway?

If that's the case then the verdict will be delivered by the ratings figures.

I"m sure it's good for the Beeb but I think it's a little unfair on the contestants. They have to wait 24 hours to find out if they are in or out and don't get their day off or the extra days training.

I would have thought the BBC with its religious programming should have kept the Sabbath holy!

Dancing on a Sunday is an illegal activity.

This remains to be seen. If it's true, then that is a positive. But I am expecting a hefty amount of repetition from Saturday's show. It will be interesting to see how much of tonight's show actually is new material.

I think it is a great idea, being that we know the result from last night, with the bottom two down to the judges decision we can hope for a fairer contest and not such a fan based outcome.

It was recorded after the phone lines closed at 9pm last night,so the contestants do know who went and they do have today off or to do training.
It is just us,the viewer who has to wait to see it.

Does anyone know - are the judges making their decision on the dance-off alone?

That is the basis for their decision, but I can see at some point in the series we could end up with a situation where the bottom two will be one person dancing better, the other having more potential. In that situation I'll be surprised if the judges stick to the idea that they have to choose the better performance.

I love it being on a Sunday. Thing is i'm not looking forward to it any less since i found out who's out - It's the dancing I want to see.

I think the bbc have the right idea. It a family show and should be shown pre-watershed.

It does fill that gap that we used to have on Sundays. Now we have strictly 7 days a week, which can't be a bad thing.

(am feeling much better about it today, as it is Sunday. Was very fed up last night - and probably will be again next Saturday).

So from what I gather is if viewers go out on a Saturday night they have to record SCD and watch it early on a Sunday afternoon before the results.

Anyway if the results are pre-recorded on the Saturday night the BBC might just as well shown the programme live.

I think they mean that people are still at home when the main part of the show is broadcast and then head for their night out after it's finished, consequently they miss the results. I doubt many people start their saturday night out at 6.00pm .

It would only make sense if the results show was shown live.

As it is, they recorded it all last night, and so that sense of excitement, whether you know the result or not, is lost a bit.

That's how I feel. I will tune in but it will half-hearted.

I really don't see the point in moving it.

They even still closed the voting lines @9 so it's not as if more people are going to vote or anything, i just think it's rubbish!!

There is no real reason why the Saturday results show could not have been extended, allowing for a few re-jigs of the evening's schedule of course

Er, haven't these people heard of video recorders, PVRs and dvd recorders?

Exactly. If people don't want their kids staying up late, record it and let them watch it the next morning. I think the bbc wanted to move the results show and used 'research' to give them an excuse - you can skew research to get whatever result you want.

A large part of the charm of SCD is that it is live - watching a pre-recorded show tonight takes some of that joy out of it for me. And it means I have to spend the day making sure I don't find out the result by mistake.

Hello! I'm new to the forum of SCD but hope to come often! At first i thought results on Sunday was a bad idea and how stupid it was to pout it on at the same time as X factor, although i would always watch strictly over x factor it might decrease SCd's viewings but at least we have SCD everyday if u include It takes two which is great for obbsessives like me!
