How about this Toshiba 19W330DB from RGB Direct for £259 - seems to fit your requirements, and Toshiba are fine TV's. I've got a 37" which I'vw had for a year or so now, and have been nothing but happy with it

The smaller Toshiba's are usually just bought in, from Beko or Vestel I believe?. So while the 37 is a Toshiba, the 19 most probably won't be.

I've just checked the Toshiba service website, and there's VERY little in the way of a service manual there, which is further proof it's not a Toshiba set.

Isn't it a shame that the profit has been knocked so far out of these products that respectable companies are forced to buy stuff in and re-badge it?

They have a choice, either make their own (and lose money), buy cheap sets in (make money but ruin reputation), or not compete in that market (lose money and reduce reputation).

It's really hard to know how to go!.

So far Sony are probably the only manufacturer not to buy TV's in? - but they have commonly bought VCR's (most Sony VHS sets were bought in), and many DVD recorders are bought in.

It is, but at least Toshiba leave it to their tiny models unlike Hitachi.

As a thought, are there any big names that do their own tv's under say 20 inch?
